Assuming you earned your gems via gold, there is almost no reason to actually purchase a repair canister. You get 5 of them for 300 gems, and assuming 1g=300 gems(I think the rate is below that now), your repairs need to be worth at least 20.1s to actually justify your purchase. Now, I personally repair after all my armor is damaged, not broken, since the stat penalty for broken armor is too severe, and my repair costs typically don’t climb above 15s. Does anyone here actually have regular 20s+ repair costs to justify constant purchase of these repair canisters?(ones that came free from BL chests are fine).

I only use them if I get them from a free black lion chest (meaning I found both the key and chest in the world without paying a nickel)

The canisters are a connivence item. My repair bills never climb over 4-5s so I rarely find the need to use it or purchase it from the gem store.

I think the reason people would find them worth it isn’t the price difference. It’s not supposed to be cheaper to use it to repair your gear. It’s supposed to be more time convenient. For example. You go and you do a story line. You forgot that you had all but one piece of gear broken and didn’t repair before you entered. Your almost done with the quest. You die. a piece of gear breaks. Now your stats drop, you die again. 5 deaths later all your gear is broken.

You can either 1. Leave, repair your gear, and do it all over.
or 2. Use an instant repair canister and not have to redo all of the work.

Is it a little more expensive? yeah it is….but between teleport costs to go somewhere to repair, and the time you save from not having to redo the quest….it’s worth it for some people.

On that note. I have like 6 from BLT chests…and I haven’t used any of them. I would never buy them, hell I odn’t even carry them on me XD I might use them for dungeons

that way I’m not having to teleport back to repair…. or in WvW…

How much is the repair cost when you’re sitting with one broken exotic (and others damaged, of course)?

If armor canisters are just a slightly better deal that the NPC then that means the market is working just as you would hope a healthy market would work.
