Average wealth of players
Whenever i have more than 700g, i usually try to trim it to 300-400ish
so i buy random things.
Currently what i got if you count items:
Volcanus not bounded
4 stacks of ectos kitten you anet)
All the minis
5 character with full exotic
2x set of T3
Various T6 mats & lodstones
Wasted 100+g on useless backpacks skin at 15-21g a piece (now they drop to nothing)
+ 450g on the TP
I usually play 2 hours a day, TP + daily. Before they introduced Laurel it was 1 dungeon + TP.
160g + a grinning Shield Skin sitting on the bank.
Good ways of getting money besides the CoF runs is killing karkas imo.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
After 950h of play over the past 6 months
- meteorlogicus
- various t6 mats
- few ecto`s
- 3 full exo’d 80’s
50g pocket money
(gotten legendary by farming cof for 2-3months for an average 2-3h a day)
Recruiting necros & guardians. Whisper ingame.
I’m around 280 after blowing 200 for the lover this weekend. I play the market for the big bucks, but i mostly just play the game.
I currently have 75g, but recently had 200+ gold. I spent it on a commander tag and some cosmetics.
My main methods for getting gold are:
- Converting items on the TP (salvaging, mystic forge, etc.)
- Crafting
- Flipping items that other people usually don’t
- Normal PvE stuff
I usually just do some things on the TP when I first login, and then go play. Whenever I’m about to be done, I gather everything I bought and convert it / repost it. The point is to not babysit the TP – checking it every 15 minutes is a waste of time. You can earn quite a bit just by playing the game normally.

I’m not sure how your example relates to your point.
I never post my wealth statistics because I always have a suspicion that these threads are created as a means of identifying targets for hacking.

Are you implying you have lots of wealth? You’ve just been targeted by someone now, lol. Cover blown!

Hah! I’m hardly wealthy compared to the folks here. I don’t have a single Exotic item, and in fact, the highest level zone my characters have been to is Gendarran Fields (outside of Southsun Cove during the Lost Shores event). Anybody who did hack my account would find it not worth the bother. :P
Only got 20 gold in my pocket

to see which accts to hack maybe. btw my wealth is undefined at the moment, I currently only own the servers Kaineng, TC and FA. My tp taxes come in at a regular basis, but I make about forty thousand gold every half hour.

So those rumors about the Xunlai guild controlling the markets are true!

Popin’ tags, mate, popin’ tags! You like my big kitten coat from the thrift shop down the road btw?

aboooout 2g between 5-80’s heh. Though I could probably sell and make a few hundred if needed, and make more if I focused on it. I put a lot into exotic gear drops, crafting it and transmutation + bank and bag slots.
I quit playing Gw2 for several months because of boredom, that was after december – I had around 50 gold- & another 50 gold put just in armor on one character- I’m not a fan of grinding , but I do it anyways in dungeons & I don’t use gem cards – so anymore I’m broke all of the time lol
Im a new player, about 200hrs, Lv 50 I have 9Gold 8 of which I bought!
I also have 120K in GW1 (not counting mats at all), I am seriously disappointed in the GW2 Economy; and what a total money sink the game economy is so far. I know at Level 10 in GW1 120K would have seemed impossible, but nothing I have seen, read, or heard from guildies tells me the endgame economy really opens up the way it did in GW1.
3 legendaries and 5gold -_-

nothing. wasted all my gold in wvw blueprints…..
Twilight, Bolt, Anomaly, 9 Cultural t3 sets, 20 different Trinketsetups, 3000g in ectos, 800g in other stuff and 11g on the bank :-).
Working on two incinerators simultaneously from zero on. Making gold is so easy in GW2.
I guess I spent around 10.000g so far.
Legendary counter: Twilight, Bolt, Incinerator, Incinerator Nr. 2, Meteorlogicus, The Dreamer
~35g ATM in cash. ~150 in mats.
Not bothering with gold too much. When I needed gold i played on AH a bit and did 25G net in 1 day
buy/forge to certain item/resell with big net income

economy is here and those who know and WANT to make gold can make lots of it. Money sinks are good and needed. Else you would have more but less valuable gold due to inflation.
100g+ now.
lost 200+g to MF.
feel so kitten that now i am earning money with a vengeance.
Even with all the gold in the world though, GW2 can never make you feel ‘elite’ and it’s one of the best things in the game. After seeing people wielding every legendary they can wield, the novelty of the thing sort of diminishes. I’m not very fond of how much currencies we have in the game, but it somehow works out in the end. Sometimes, it even feels like gold < titles.

Someone has a lot of disposable RL income.
Either that or a LOT of free time.

I would say tp trading…it really does give you a sense of how out of balance it is with most all other gold acquisition methods that there in these types of games.
This is and has been my main gripe about this game. It’s creating this traders market (which can be good, if the player base can support it), but in the long run you will continue to see the uber rich and the uber poor. Considering this is a game that people can quit playing, it’s not very good for business in the long term. The average player makes nothing in this game and with the TP in place, they see just how little they can afford. In GW it wasn’t nearly as noticeable and make “a living” was second hand to actually playing the game. That’s where GW2 needs to be and it needs to get there fast. The “we need to make the game more rewarding for players” better be on the top priority of their list of things to do, otherwise a bleeding will happen from the people that are actually willing to throw money at them.
Atm 9g a few mats and 60 charged cores away from my legendary^^ i’ve been flipping items every now and then but not many and always without risks^^ i’d say my main income comes from CoE and fractal farming though :P
I could have completed it earlier but unfortunately i have only 1-2h per day and i find myself wasting most of my time fooling around with my guild or giving newcomers advices like how to craft stuff xD (most asked question by far :P )
Edit: i mean i got 9g and i need the other stuff for my legendary ^^

Playing since game started, about 30g across all my chars, highest lvl 80 with blue gear. No ectos, precursors, epic stacks of mats, legendaries. Casuality over 9000.

No ectos at all? Really? Even I’ve got a couple of ectos in the Bank from just salvaging some Rares I picked up during the course of my adventuring, and my characters have yet to go to any zone higher than Gendarran Fields.
Yes, that does seem rather unlikely… Even crude kits will give you the occasional ecto off a rare. Maybe they just vendor everything?
I’m probably the poorest player in the game. Have played over 1000 hours, 100 gold in bank, maybe around 15 gold spread on my characters. Probably close to 100 gold in gear on my characters. 1 stack of Ectos, and a bunch of non-250 stacks of crafting materials.
No precursors, no legendaries, no epic glowy things.
I also feel extremely poor after reading this. Though that is likely to be expected in the BLTC forums where market abuse and profit mongering are actively encouraged.
Only have about 40 gold across all characters. Only have a few ectos, but that is due to having 1 80 and a bunch of 20’s. When you’re cursed with alt-itis, your money disappears fast playing with builds and junk.
by level 80 should have the best statistical loot in the game.”

I have about 20 gold on each of my 2 80s and about 1 gold on each of my other 3 alts.
My 2 80s with 2 Exotic Gears each with some of those expensive runes and sigils (Runes of Divinity, Sigils of Strength, etc) With about 3-4 weapons each.
For Gold I usually either farm materials when I get bored of CoF but what I do is:
Go CoF, Take Omnomberry Bar and my full Exotic Gear with Runes of Scavenging and sometimes when I also find one of those banners for extra gold from monsters. It is about 80 silvers per run including the coin bags, drops from monsters and the dungeon clearing money. CoF can be done in about 10 mins with a good team so that is almost 6 gold per hour. (With the chance that you also get rares from chests and drops with the Scavenging Runes)
Point it out in my case, i dont see it. Getting Gold in GW2 is basically like picking fruit hiphigh from a tree.

Let’s not take this into the forbidden religion zone, and yes, the theory of evolution could easily be construed as a religion before you go that route.
It was a joke people. That’s all there is to it.
120g in my bank at the moment.
Before last week, I’d never had more than 30g at once… And I’ve been playing more or less regularly since October, 1200 hours.
I tend to hoard and never sell/use my mats, so I know I have at least dozens more gold in materials. And that’s without the stack of Ectos!
For the toast!
(edited by Halcyon.7352)
About 60g in bank, but close to 1200g in armor sets/mats
I’m never above 20g at any given time. Things are just too expensive.
~Surrender fiend and you will get an easy death
~I could promise you the same…but it would be a lie…
currently 30g shared across my characters, 400g approx in armor and weapons and probably a lot more in materials (i’m hoarding them atm… not sure why….. just to lazy to grab them from the bank and check trading post I guess)
The average gw2 will have around 400gold in assests/armour/mats if played from day 1 with pve mixed with wvw.
120g cash
Handful of lodestones and crystals of every time, never sold them
I guess about 200g in materials I don’t need
When I hit golden, I’ll sell most of my materials to get my precursor.

Maxed at ~12g, currently only have 2g on-hand and maybe 6g in the bank. I have no idea the worth of my collectables, I just keep ’em in the bank until I refine/use them.
I’ve always been poor in comparison, but I only play about 5-6 hrs a week. Never do dungeons ‘cause I don’t have the time.
I currently have 158g in actual gold and about I’d say an easy 400g~ in items. Mainly skins, t6 mats, etc. I have 8 characters, 1 of each class, 6 of which are 80. All geared (aka all exotics, and ascended rings/backs), 1 has Kudzu, and some have tier pieces. I farm rarely, usually when I’m bored. I’m not gonna go on my usual CoF farm rant, but let me assure everyone that you don’t have to flip items to make better use of your time and more gold than you would doing CoF. CoF farming is simply people being lazy, and thinking they are making copious amounts of gold.
That said, I think last time I looked I had about 1,900hrs played (playing since before launch week) and I was lucky enough to get my Leaf of Kudzu (and a friends) for 43g during the Karka event. I debated selling it but in the end figured I’d just keep it. Also my gold hasn’t moved that much in the last few weeks because of this kitten SAB event. I run 8 characters everyday through the box. On the plus side thus far I’ve gotten 6 skins, two of which are greatswords, so hopefully this will make up for my lack of activity.

ok, im really poor
I have nothing now, because my 10g went to 300 gems.
I had around 130g before I decided to go for the Bifrost legendary which – earlier I bought 69 Crystalline dusts for 21g and and a bunch of ectoplasm which drained me completely.
