I didn’t know if I was maxed out on Bank Tab expansions. I decided since they are on sale, I would buy one. I cannot expand anymore. I would really appreciate you refunding my gems since I was unaware that I was maxed out and most of the things on the Gem Store alert you to that fact that you cannot buy anymore. Please refund my gems!

They will refund this, if you send a ticket. They did it for me once. 11 tabs is maximum (that includes the free one you start with), just count it again and again to be sure Xd more is pointless.

Basically if there is no ‘buy bank tab’ button under your bank, with gem icon (blue), then you can’t expand. NEVER EXPAND VIA TP itself. Cause TP can’t detect if your bank is maxed.

They can’t give refunds from a forum request. You have to make a ticket at https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new

It seems like an easy fix to make this unavailable to accounts once it’s max’ed out, the way the Black Lion Special thing is only available to buy once. I’m surprised it’s not already handled this way.

Except the store can’t look at a player’s account. That’s why items like Bank Tabs can’t be gifted. All it can do is mail the item to the player’s account. It’s the way you keep the databases from mixing.

The store CAN look at a player’s account. There’s a history listing of my purchases right on the main page. Additionally, there is at least one item (The Black Lion Introductory Package) that can only be purchased once, and then the store does not allow further purchases. All you need to do is put in a limiter of 11 on bank tabs.

No it doesn’t, it simply remembers the last X number of things you bought. If it has a limited history then it can’t reliably look back and determine a total. That history is kept in the store’s database of you. Still can’t look into your account.

The reason why if you try to buy tabs of bag slots in either the bank or inventory screen and have it tell you that you can’t buy anymore is because the game database does know exactly how many limited items you have and can sanity check it before launching the store UI to complete the sale. Once you are in the TP window, that’s an entirely different program and different databases.

That still doesn’t explain how the gemstore interface knows that I can’t purchase another Black Lion Introductory Package.

I suspect that the gem shop has a flag for that specific item.

• You can only ever buy one.
• The only place to purchase the BLIP is the gem shop.

Thus, it’s easy for the gem shop to figure it out, in contrast to the situation with bank tabs/collection expanders: you can purchase more than 1, the limit has grown over time, and there are two places to purchase them (gem shop + the icon in the bank itself).

Anyhow, regardless of why this is so, it’s admittedly frustrating and/or annoying for both the customer and Customer Support. The player should not have to care about what buttons they click to purchase. Similarly, it’s a poor use of the CS team’s time to refund gems on something that can’t have provided any value in the first place.

Investigating this further I noticed that the Gem Shop history does not track bank tabs bought in game, I’ve never bought bag slots. Now since I never bought them directly from the Gem Shop, I don’t know if the Shop’s history tracks those either. Which would definitely be the problem.

If direct purchases in game don’t get tracked, then that’s the problem. I’m not saying it’s not a bug but I don’t think they want the Gem Shop to dive into player’s game database just to make all the sums correct.
