What do you guys think is the current best use for captain’s council commendations? I have a large amount to use, and I’m not sure what to buy. You can’t salvage or forge the weapons, and keys aren’t being sold anymore. For now I just bought a bunch of rares for my lvl 30 ranger.

So would it be best to a) buy exotics, b) let them sit in my bank to use very slowly as sturdy gathering tools, or c) just hold onto them and hope they add a better use.

I’m not sure c really has any chance of happening though tbh.

- Well, get the rares if you need it for any character. I think currently it’s the cheapest way.
- The gathering tools are good cuz they give you 250 charges.
- The exotics I think you can get it faster and “cheaper” through dungeon tokens.

More than that I would hold on to it for a while and see if they add something better. if not, just spend in tools and whatever before the NPC goes away for ever and never.

I personally like the Assambler kit, 250 uses salvage kit is sweet. I bought like 30 of these.

Alright thanks guys. I guess I’ll hang onto them a bit and spend them on weapons as my characters need them. I do like the 250 use kits/tools, but unfortunately I can’t stock up on them because of bag space issues since I have about 5000 commendations to convert.

Eh really? When/where did they say this?
Well thanks for the warning, I guess I’ll get my ranger some more rares and rampager’s exotics then since that’s the only option that doesn’t flood my bank.

It was part of the Jan 28th patch notes:

“Lionguard Lyns has returned to Lion’s Arch but no longer has Black Lion Keys available. Donations toward the rebuilding of Lion’s Arch will continue to be accepted until late February, at which time Lionguard Lyns must return to her normal Lionguard duties. Liquidate those Captain’s Commendations while you can. "

So not THAT soon, but ANet’s given fair warning that you have to liquidate your CC stash before they become worthless.
