It’s a secret, but I have crafted Mystic Battleaxes. They take 50 points and ~3g. You can sell them for ~9g or salvage with Black Lion kit for superior Bloodlust and ectos.

Material ascension via the Mystic Forge is by far the most profitable use of skill points.

I’m not going to tell you which materials though… that would spoil the fun of making your own spreadsheets.

There is also a time/gold cost to consider.

It is possible to get 2-3g/sp but you’ll need patience a large amount of gold and thousands upon thousands of MF combinations… it’s a lot of clicking.

It’s easier if you just convert your SP’s on a daily basis, but if you are trying to get through thousands it is going to take a while.

Weapons made in the mystic forge offer a much lower gold/sp value but they use 50 SP’s per forge, which is a lot faster.

It doesnt work like that because you still have to get the mats to promote on buy order and sell the ones you get through a sell listing.

Good luck buying 2.5 million bolts of jute and selling 800k bolts of wool.

the easier it is to convert, the less profitable it’ll be. that’s why those mystic weapons and other forge weapons only give 10-20s/SP – it only takes seconds to convert 50SP.
There are many material promotions that are profitable on average in the range of 1-4g/SP. But they only use like 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, etc. SP per forging (40s profit at 0.2 SP each = 2g/SP). So it would take 1-2 hours to consume 100 SP – ignoring the time require to buy all the starting materials and sell all the output materials. At that amount, even the time required to buy philosopher’s stones would be considerable.

Would using skill points on the 10 clover recipe cause a reasonable profit from failures that yield T6 mats? That is assuming if you have enough karma for obsidian shards and spare ecto lying around.

last I checked, the clover recipe returned something like -30% profit. So it costs 41s28c per forging and you only get back 28s90c after selling everything you get back, including TP fees. But I’m not sure of drop rates, so don’t quote me on it, just don’t expect it to be as good as you want it to be.

I’m just gonna be blunt about this…people who have found ways to make ‘a lot’ from a little’ aren’t just going to come right out and tell you what they do on a public forum for the most part. So many reliable ways of ‘tuning little into a lot’ have been completely destroyed when idiots post YouTube videos about “hey! This is how you can make some extra gold really easy.”

The fundamental problem with this is that once EVERYONE starts using that same method, it becomes obsolete. Unless, the people posting this videos are completely oblivious and/or stupid, they have to be fully aware that this is an inevitable consequence of people ‘bandwagoning’ once niche markets/systems. So other than the completely obvious and well-known methods of, "do this medium investment with only marginally higher return’ systems, don’t expect people to just bust out their niche market/system on a public forum in hopes of good will. It only destroys that very market and such an out came isn’t in ANYONE’s favor.

If you want to make maximum profits from minimal investment, I suggest you do what others do, in the first place to acquire ‘their’ profitable, niche markets. This includes research, diligence, a bit of intuition with a big splash of logic, tracking trends, experimentation, and a broad knowledge of the market. Read: ‘work’.

It is hardly in a persons best interest to say public ally, “well, I’ve found that I can get items x, y, and z in bulk for cheap and craft this high return item to make a steady flow of income.”

If you ran a BBQ joint that was very successful after you spent years into perfecting what people like and keeps them coming back, and then turn around and give Joe Shoe, your competition across the street, a warm welcome to the source of your of your local, organic meat supplier and the recipe to your special sauce? Or even yet, just publish it in the local paper or on a billboard. No, you wouldn’t. It would destroy you and your ‘special thing’ would become generic. I hope this makes sense as I’m not trying to be a jerk, but look at all the ‘how to make gold quickly’ YouTube videos that are now obsolete b/c some shmuck wanted a few more subscribers.

Tldr: Do some research. Learn the markets. Find what works for you and be ready to have to adapt when it becomes useless.

It’s a question of how much time your willing to invest to get the maximum amount of gold per skill point. I believe investing in upgrading mats through MF is the most profitable way, but only when looking at the sp/g ratio.

I just made a legendary with a friend of mine who had all the gold/mats needed. I invested karma and skill points, and got a nice profit of about half a g per skill point.

It’s possible to get +5g per SP if you know what you are doing when promoting, but the materials involved require LONG wait times for orders to fill (and a good bit of seed money to buy the required materials).

It propably IS the most profitable because it ISNT featured on this commonly linked spreadsheet.

I already mentioned this many times on the forums and in my guild. Truth is, it wont make much of a dent into your (or my) profits.

First of all, not many people read this. And secondly, most people screw up at some point of promoting, resulting in way less profit than i claim to make, so they think its bogus and stop doing it.
Its also something you cant spam, so you basically have to do it on a daily/weekly basis in order to get rid of your extra skill points, which most of the people cant bother to do.

If you have been doing this for a while, you will have noticed that the common mat market is topsy turfy atm due to the supply box trader, which basically sucked 90% of the unrefined listings on the tp out of the market. I dont think there is a single common mat atm that can be refined without a big loss, so there is still some kind of latency for refined mat prices (which is interesting because it hints that most refined t2 mats right now are actually produced through promoting, not refinement).

And apart from that, i just accumulated around 100 stacks of t1 mats, so i dont care, if some people reading this will push their prices.

I know one way that was successful at making money back during the last Scarlet event was to buy level 25-40 green items that salvaged into metal. Iron Ore was going for 3-4 silver a pop then due to the demand for the spinal blades (ingots hit 10 silver a couple times). Grab items that were going for 2 silver or less, salvage them with my salvage-o-matic, then sell the iron, use the luck. Made about 5 gold in an hour of doing that, but then the market had run out of suitable items so I had to stop for a bit.

I doubt it will work now because the demand for iron has shrunk.
