Official post from main GW2 website states that the Halloween gear(and I’m guessing Christmas(Wintersday)) will be dropping from Black lion Chests. So if you want your special skins, get your Black Lion Chests now before they skyrocket over 2 silver each.

Sell all your chests if you have them, and then people will realize keys are still needed and chests will drop back to 2-3c each again.

Actually no, im not high enough to get that many chests, i could only get 50. My friends are buying them now for profit. I wish I could join in, dont want others to miss out.

Um no, cuz 50c to 1s each isnt a huge profit, but it is a nice one. Keys will go up in price cuz gem prices fluctuate based on gems bought sold. Buy them cheap now and the price goes up when more people buy gems later during halloween. You can then exchange for profit.

They should make a mystic forge recipe where u can drop like 20-25 black lion chests in and it will become 1-5 mystic coins. I mean seriously the number of chests lying around is ridiculous.

Well, just a few days ago, chests were 3c, now they’re 44/45 c. If you invested 3g in 10k chests, and you sold them today, you’d make 34g

Think we will get any word on whether or not these skins are account bound or character bound?

The mystic harvesting tools are soulbound, but the tonics are account bound. So it could go either way.

BTW, in the last ten minutes Chests have gone from 38 to 44 copper and I doubt thats entirely due to this post. I wouldn’t be surprised if they keep going up until about week 3 of the event.

He’s right, they jumped RIGHT AFTER the patch. from 4c last week, now today it’s 44 c. Like I said before, if you bought 10k of them for 4g, and sold those 10k now for 44c each, you’d make a 33 gold profit, fking amazing! I’m gona stock on some, im assuming the x-mas items will be the same as the haloween (from chests) so prices will just continue to rise

There are 11k sitting at 49c and 21k sitting at 50c right now. I’d be surprised if 32,000 chests got sold in the next week to break that threshold. And even if it does, there are a few other listings with quantities in the thousands before they break a silver.

If you buy them up at 44c now, they need to pass that 32k sold mark in to 50c before you could break even.

Not going to say it wont happen. But I’d be surprised. Sad thing about it is those 21,000 chests were probably posted by a RMT farmer a weeks ago, and the account that posted them might even be banned. But listings never expire, so even when events like this come along that would let us really play a meta-game with the TP, we hit these artificial ceilings on item value.

Oh this is why. I just got 10 chests in 30 minutes of playing LOL people won’t have the keys to use them all lol.

Read the part about unique weapon skins dropping from chests… yes, this is speculation to get ahead of anticipated demand, but there will likely be increased demand for chests. Will it be enough to justify current prices? /shrug

What would be brilliant on Anets part is if this was an addition to remove the excess of black lion chests from the TP.

If they lower the drop rate on them, and use them like this for future holidays also then they will retain some value. If the drop rate stays the same, then the things will just bounce jump to around from 4c to 40c every holiday, and the same million chests will be posted over and over again.

Well I made a quick profit and got the hell out before anything bad happened. I bought upwards of 10,000 black lion chests, then sold them all as the prices kept moving around and got a rather hefty profit.

Ive been holding on to 20k black lion chests that I bought when they were so cheap. I think I’ll wait until the market stabilizes a bit before unloading them.

There’s always going to be more than enough chests so lets just ignore them and look at it for what it is. Which from where I am sitting is a system where players pay £/$/€ for a chance of receiving an item. A chance that isn’t even specified. It’s the worst form of microtransaction really.

This thread really isn’t needed to unload chests at 1000% profit. They went up by that much anyway, and I strongly doubt posts in the trading company subforum had much impact on that.

Personally I just bought a reasonable amount. Enough to where if they skyrocket I’ll make some money, few enough if they tank I’m not gonna sweat it.

Its no doubt a profit is to be made here, getting haloween weapon skinz from only chests will make demand huge.

Chests wont hit 2s, there’s a huge incoming supply of them every day.

They’ve already hit their post announcement peak and are starting to drop again, if you buy now expecting to make money on them you’ll lose out.

Theres 400,000 of the kitten things on the AH, and probably a good multiple of that as well in people banks. Most people have a stack of 250 bought already in their banks from when they were 2c each. If you think most people are going to clear out their own stash of chests via keys, and still need more after that, you’re a fool.
