So I opened some black lion chests…

Instead of getting three items, some of them are giving two items?

Last one opened:
1 copper
3x Mystery Tonics
1 black lion key

Whats up with that?

Not to mention some are giving 2x heavy bags + 1x key?

Happened again…

Can we get some kind of quick fix for this? Or at least remove them?

Yeah, I hoarded 220 black lion keys over the past few month for the express purpose of getting endless mystery tonics. However, I decided to wait until today to open them now just in case wintersday skins might show up now in them. Apparently that was a mistake, since I opened 100 chests and not only did I get no EL tonic, now I’m lucky if I even get the regular mystery tonics in a chest, which makes me think the droprate for endless may be even more abysmal now (which is truly hard to fathom). Before I open the rest, could I get some input on whether endless tonic droprates were decreased unintentionally with this overhaul?

And also… WHY are endless mystery tonics still untradeable when you’ve made the personal merchant contracts and such tradeable (not to mention Halloween and toymaker endless tonics)

Black Lion Chest Overhaul:
Permanent Bank Access, Permanent Trader Express, and Permanent Merchant Express items now drop twice as often from Black Lion chests. Though still extremely rare, they can now be traded until their first use.
The Black Lion Chest drop chance for mystery tonics has been reduced from 100% to 25%. Tonics now have the same drop chance as “Heavy Bag of Coins,” “Unidentified Dye,” or one of three new Guild Influence items worth 50, 100, or 300 influence.
“Heavy Bags of Coins” have been added to Black Lion Chests in the tonic and buff drop sections. Bags hold between 80c and 1g50s.
“Glory Booster” has been added to the list of possible buff drops.
Buff drops now occasionally drop the “booster multipack” triple buff.
Rarity and proportion of all other Black Lion Chest drops have been rebalanced to reduce overabundance of some items.

That last line could mean anything

Money drops do not show up in the chat window, you will just have to take my word that one copper dropped.. lol

I opened a ticket as I am kinda annoyed with this at the moment, as holiday box’s are not dropping what the patch note says are required..

Saved up 3 keys from map completion and thought now was a good time to use them. Opened 3 chests and got
1st chest:
1 Copper
1 blacklion merchant express
1 heavy bag of coin (containing 5s ._.)
2nd chest:
1 Copper
1 mystery tonic
1 heavy bag of coin (containing 7.5s)
3rd chest:
1 copper
3 Mystery Tonics
1 Heavy bag of coin (containing 6s)

Conclusion = black lion keys and chests are even more worthless now.

I opened close to 150~ BLC. The only note worthy thing I got was 1 mini pet pack and 3 BLSalvage kits. What a bunch of trash, good thing I didnt spend any money on those keys cause its akin to stealing.

I did submit a ticket, and they said they are looking into the issue since so many others reported it.

Not sure where they stand on the christmas box tho.

I remember reading that they were going to “rebalnce” (or somesuch nonsense) the items to account for doubling the rates of permanent. I’m very happy to see the chests are even more worthless than before. Hopefully people stop purchasing keys and whoever reads the trends of sales implements buying the rarer items directly.

Of course that wont happen, they’ll just add a new super rare mini and people will flock to it again.

Huh, I seriously thought 2 items was typical, and was kind of excited to see some of them dropping 3! Shows how much I’ve been paying attention… anyway, thanks for the speedy response!

good thing i read this post. I decided to take a video of me opening my BLCs for a personal record as well.

Hope you guys have a database, cause I know I didnt keep track how many of 150~ chests I opened had this happen.

Well, I opened about 12 chests just after the Wintersday update, what day was the bug introduced?

Well, I will be looking forward to some compensation. I opened close to 300 chests.

I opened 110 chests for the holiday event, and a large portion of them only gave me 1 or 2 items. I kept thinking “Oh hey, these are new items, maybe you aren’t supposed to get more than one of them at a time” in regards to the influence items and bags of coins. Seeing that this was not an intended feature makes me sad, but it has been fixed and hopefully compensation for the items lost will come soon.

Yeah….. I opened a fair few chests also, I didn’t really think nothing of it at the time, it was quite late when I was opening them, I don’t have screenshots or even remember what I got from these chests and certainly would not be able to remember all of them. Hopefully Anet has some internal way of tracking what players received… Eek

Haha, thought just like you, that the third item was a “bonus” or something.

I opened eight chests yesterday and it varied between 2-3 items.

Im here because not only i got the bug when i opened 200+ chests but i also didnt get any perma item…..

Opend 100 Chest after the Patch and get nothing ….. lost 10000 Gems for that….

Thank you. Been opening 3 chests a day for wintersday and had been noticing fairly poor drops but didn’t really observe anything in particular. Was initially wondering how you were planning on reimbursing however it looks like you mentioned it already.

Was REALLY hoping for a self-style kit.

Makes sense. I opened 7 chests and got very poor drops with multiples of some items. I guess I should of paid more notice at the time. Sux

Posting here just for the record. Opened 130 chest on the first day. Got trash. i think the worst is the bags of coins. Whose idea is that? Why would ANYONE want to see 5 silver in a black lion chest?

I didn’t know this was a bug, I thought I just had horrible luck. Pretty sure I had my last blc drop 3 items, though it may have been a copper. Was there a problem with the wintersday boxes as well? I bought a ten pack and got 2 items out of half of them.

I had 5 keys left and opened the chest yesterday. What a crap..

we are aware of an issue that sometimes people only get 2 items and we are working on a fix. We will compensate the people affected, but it might take us a couple of days to check the database and compile the list of people affected.

Keep an eye open on the forums for updates.

Oh, good to know. I saved 42 keys and used them in the first day of wintersday, after finding out there were no seasonal items in it.

Just like many others in this thread I grew to think that getting two items was the norm…what the hell lol

opened about 100 chests yesterday, so ill be glad if you guys could check my log as well

The first few chest I opened in september and october had more than 1 item. Since october, everytime I open a chest, I only have 1 item (normally junk that I dont care much).

Let’s see if I get more stuff when they “fix” it.

sent me two chests today, i didnt even contact customer support about this although ive been staying updated with this thread

ok so i just purchased 50 keys and im still getting a lot of chests with 2 items, and some chests with 2 items and a few copper… hopefully its fixed and i get some more chests sent my way…

Dunno I usually get 10 of said harvesting tool all the time along with the crappy potion and a booster.
granted i would have tossed the potion out anyways just odd that it was only 2 items this time.

Just curious, I opened a little less than 15 chests on the first day of Wintersday and got 4 unlocked tonight in the mail. Does that mean that just those 4 were bugged originally or is there something else going on with the mailing system?

The chests are giving three items, as far as all of us know (and have established in testing). The “two items and some coppers” is actually three items, because the coppers count as the third item set.

I am sorry but this is not acceptable…

1 Copper should NEVER count as an item, those craptastic coin bags are one thing, but to tell us a copper coming out of a chest is counted as an item?

Secondly I opened countless boxs, and only received 3 in return for my “bugged ones”, i highly doubt that was the correct count.

Thirdly you guys really need to change these boxs again, they need to be adjusted as the price of gems goes up to match the value. Right now to buy 1 box it costs right around 3 gold, if you sell 150 gems for gold its around 2.25 gold. That means I should feel like I got 2 gold out of my purchase.

Buffs cost between 75 and 150 gems per buff, those transmutation potions are worthless hence they are not even sold in the gem shop, transmutation stones are worthless because of the high rate they were originally added with (I alone have over 500). The service items you can get a much lower rate then other things cost between 35 and 70 gems.

So on a very good day if your lucky you will get a buff, a BL salvage kit, and a gold bag or a dye. On a very bad day you will get a buff and 1 bags of gold that average 2-3 silver per bag, and now 1-5 copper?… Where is the value or use in buying the chests?

I know they are mean to be a gamble, but can you please add something to them to make me want to gamble?

Over half the time the value of what you get out of the box is less then the price if you were to buy those items with gems.
