Hi all,

Is it just me or have Black Lion Keys stopped dropping ? I havent had one in a hell of a long time. Have 50+ Black Lion Chests in my bank and I never seem to get keys to open them anymore.

Black Lion Chests are the bait to buy keys. They took the keys away from Lionguard Lyns as well.

Yeah, I have bought keys before. However with 50+ chests it is going to bankrupt me to open them all :P

I’ve clocked in 750+hours and have only ever gotten a key from a drop once. The rest are from story completions and map completions. (i only have 12 atm :|)

i dropped 5 or 6 keys so far, 2 of them the past week. But with the amount of chests and the low chance of getting something actualy good, their price on the gem store is just ridiculous

Almost 1400hrs, and one key dropped since Launch. Got two in beta.

with a bit more then a week of playing the game and allmost on my 2nd week of the game itself (Playing time) I have over 80 Chests … I Just feel that keys being 125 is to much, I would gladly get like 80+ Keys from the store if it didnt cost an arm and a leg in gems to get them. as such im not spending my money.

The keys and chests are obviously a ploy to get people to buy them for gems. However, there is an easy way to get a guaranteed key every time. All you have to do is level an alt to 7 or so and do the level 10 story quest. The reward is always some junk and a black lion key. Can be done unlimited times so long as you keep making alts.

only problem is there no longer seems any thing in the chests worth the 30 mins to level up an alt

I havent seen one key drop in fee weks now. Before that I used to get at least one every few days.

It’s because of market manipulation.

I feel like I’ve had around 6 keys drop in the 1,200 hours I’ve played, and 5 of those were within the first 2 months or so, immediately after beta.
However, I’ve used many keys to the point that I have more boosts than I’ll ever use (currently 4 maxed crafts and 11 extra crafting boosters. I also had to start using BLSK on rares because I had to free up bank space).

I haven’t had one as a drop in quite some time but I have been getting them for zone clears and story progression. I have around 50 in about 900 hours of game play. I also have almost a stack of chests. In talking with a few others, it seems I’ve been more fortunate than average to acquire a 1:5 ratio.

Exactly! During beta stage I had like 6-7 drops and said ok that’s cool. But then release came and so far I had like 1-2 drops and that’s it. The rest are from story and map completion. Bummer.

I would even settle for the REDUCING the number of chests that drop. I have over 100 of them in my bank and they are pretty much worthless. If they at least lower the chest drop rate I can get usable loot in its place. The only explanation that makes sense is they want people to buy keys with gems.

I’ve been wondering for a while who is placing all the buy orders for BL chests at 1c. I can understand the 2c sell orders or a couple 1c buy orders, but why so many buy orders!?

There’s nothing wrong with the drop rate of BL keys. Just be happy that you have a chance to get them through loot/rewards instead of just buying them from the gem store.

I just vendor the chests. They’re worthless and essentially just a trap.
