As topic title says, I find it a bit unfair that unused black lion weapon skins redeemed about a year ago (e.g. winter weapons from 2012) with limited time weapon tickets remain account bound, even though the item description does not include this information & newer versions of the skins redeemed with either black lion claim tickets OR limited time weapon tickets are tradeable.

Basically, the same skin, claimed with the same ticket, but one is account bound while the other is not.

This doesn’t make sense. Just because I/we (if anyone else is in this situation) redeemed this skin a year ago, we can’t choose to sell it now, even though we never used it?

I asked support if there was an option to fix this issue by exchanging the account bound version of the skin with a NOT bound one, but they said they couldn’t help. So I’m stuck with a skin that I can’t sell, even though everyone else can sell theirs. Their only solution was to have me post on these forums with a suggestion, so here it is:

Please update existing, unused, account bound versions of black lion weapon skins, which are account bound because they were redeemed prior to whenever they were all made tradeable, so that they are tradeable as well. Otherwise, your older players just got GG’d for no good reason

Back then, why did you get a skin that you didn’t want?

I was going to make a ranger, but that’s not happening anymore >_> Either way, I don’t get what the harm is in universally converting unused skins, as they were obtained in the same way – not like one was necessarily easier than the other. I guess that’s what bothers me more. I’m sure people who have unused skins lying around feel the same

Its not something they chose not to do. There’s some sort of limitation in the system that prevents them from retroactively altering the bound status of existing skins.

If you buy (or otherwise acquire) a new one and stack the two together, then both will be sellable.

Other than that, you could try contacting support. I’ve seen some people say that support was able to fix the problem, others say that they wouldn’t do anything, but its worth a try anyway if you aren’t able to get one to do the stacking trick.

^ Follow what Electro said. Save up and buy one of the new sellable skins, stack it with your account bound one, and both will become tradable. Now sell both skins.

Ah, thanks guys. I noticed this issue with some siege blueprints, but didn’t realize it was a limitation, I thought they just overlooked it – and with siege it didn’t quite bother me as much.

I just assumed they could have done an exchange at the Black Lion weapon specialist or something, where you can trade your account bound skin for an unbound one – similar to how you could trade your soulbound unlimited use harvesting tools for account bound ones at the NPC.
