Currently I feel that these are pretty worthless. Boosters are not needed (but ok), tonics are just worthless unless you’re spending tons of time in town, and the tool you get can be either really good or just ok. Halloween improved chest by at least letting you forge Madking chest out of the jank you got, but why not go a step further and overhaul the contents of the chest to make them worth the price of keys.

Why not have costume series in them, or dye sets? all the time. Open a chest get a random costume piece you can use to change armor appearance, a tool, and a color specific dye set (of some random rarity). Since that is a least more attractive than what they are currently, which is opening chest for a chance to get that perm trader/merchant/whatever.

How do others feel about the chest? do you use or find the tonic/booster/tool set up to be worth the value? What would make you more willing to spend money on keys? Am I just crazy for finding these underwhelming?

They are worth the price of the keys. If you look the mean price for a booster alone is around 100 gems (not including the ones exclusive to the chest). Tonics aren’t meant to be “useful” and are as such a cosmetic/fun item, and the tools (including the chance to get BL salvage kits and transmutation stones) are all fairly useful. As for me personally I wouldn’t really aim to buy them, but I see them more as a filler item they just threw together as a “package deal” type thing that I could spend some left over gems on or something and get my monies worth.

Also, there was a video for the chests, he wanted to see if its profitable to buy keys and open chests or just buy the item u wanted. He bought lots of keys, like lots. In the end, he was on profit. The things he got from the chests would’ve cost him like 2x or even 3x the $/gold he spent on keys.

I normally get mini pets in my ones……so i’ve no problem with them! :P

Who says a booster is worth that many gems? Anet? That has no bearing on what the market considers fair. Most people would not pay anywhere near 100 gems for a booster or any other common BLC drop, hence the keys are not worth it either.

They are worthless for the most part. Never worth the price of buying keys for them on the gem store for what ever randomly comes out of them. Major problem is the random part. If real money wasn’t involved, them maybe they would be a bit more entertaining for the for the random part of it, but otherwise its crossing into shady dealings. I cannot even give the kitten things away, no one wants them, even me.

They really should improve the content. I got a key as a reward for a personal story quest today, the first key I have seen in a while. I got the booster (some extra % getting a magical drop) 3 mystery tonics that I really don’t care about, they jut take up bag space, and the poorest quality salvage kit that you can get. I’m glad I didn’t bother buying the key. The best I’ve ever had from a chest is a black lion salvage kit, but those just encourage me to salvage items with runes in, and then the runes take up all my bank space sigh.
