What I would love to see in the future would be a guild wars 2 app that allows access to our inventory and to the trading post.

I’d happily pay 10/20 pounds for this.

Imagine being able to pull buy orders on the go, alter the price, relist etc. Checking what items you have sold wlile at work, clearing/salvaging inventory items getting you ready to play as soon as you get home.

When path notes hit you can react to price spikes/drops instantly like the recent dye changes. What do you guys think about this would it be good/bad would people just use the app and not log into live game .

More TP bots than there are right now.

This can actually already be done, but it requires leaving your client logged in to act as the server. The only thing you can’t do is pickup items, since it’s not actually part of the TP.

In the future, when they release v2 of their API and hopefully officially release the TP API, I would expect a TP app to be possible without using a workaround. I don’t expect them to build one though, since they’re all about getting the community to build stuff while they provide the tools.

I would certainly hope to see ANet releasing APIs to support mobile apps that can provide such features. As Healix said, you can already do some of the things you described through the unofficial TP api.

The TP api is the most dynamic and exciting of all the API from ArenaNet even though we only have the unofficial version at the moment. Just this morning, I helped someone in reddit earn 25g just like that, so how can you not be excited about profits?

I have many apps that use the TP api to help me earn gold at any time simply by doing market analysis.

Are these api’s allowed, just curious. I’m sure there’s ways to manipulate this type of app but if it had certain restrictions of still be happy being able to clear inventory through salvaging and checking current price of my stock on tp.

Use of the TP API has been officially, indirectly allowed. Obtaining the needed session key is technically against the rules, but they okayed it by acknowledging and allowing GW2Spidy. They’ve never actually directly said it was allowed however, as it’s against their policy.

To access the more advanced features however, such as the API between the TP’s interface and the game client, you need to go a little further. Doing this is technically against the rules for the same reason obtaining the session key is (intercepting data).

By combining both of these APIs, you can make a fully functionally app, though not 100% user friendly.

My goals are different from his though. I had to pull data from multiple sources to form one comprehensive view of the market.

I could do it during my break, and concentrate on actually playing engaging content once I get home from works…that would be amazing.

I’ll use iPhone as an example
iTeleport Remote Desktop (to a Mac) – $25
Screens VNC (Mac) – $20
LogMeIn (I have it on my mac, but I think it works on PC too) – Free
Microsoft Remote Desktop (PC, I’ve never used it) – Free
there are many more. you should research different ones before you choose one – they all have different UI. I have 3 different ones that are good in different situations. Make sure the one you get can remotely control your computer over the internet (a lot of them can only do it over your home’s wifi connection)

the idea is to remotely connect to your home computer, open GW2, then navigate to the TP and you’re good to go. If you’re not trying to kill risen, it should be pretty easy.
