From Colin’s earlier post

“We’d also like to add more value and use to blue/green items, so things like killing vets feels more rewarding when those type of items drop when doing those events in Orr as well.”

Anyone care to speculate on what this could involve and the repercussions on the economy?

My first thought was that they would increase the vendor value – but that’s silly because that would only result in inflation, and in the long-run it won’t make a difference (if they adjusted npc prices)

Then I realized that they could actually use blues/greens as a conversion system to address a problem that will arise in a month or two – supply of t6 mats.

Right now t6 mats come from very few places and can only be yielded in large quantities through forge promotions. But I think the rate at which they are being created by the game is far lower than the rate of consumption at the forge.

This can be solved by including T6 mats in the salvage loot table of blues/greens.

i.e. a blue weapon/armor will have the same loot table as a moldy bag, while a green weapon/armor will yield a random t6 mat, plus a small chance at a lodestone

Anyone else care to share some potential ideas on what they are going to do?

(meanwhile I’m going to sell my +3000 pieces of sacs/totems)

If I had to guess, blues/greens will have a chance at salvaging their attribute specific T5/6 mat. In other words, salvage a blue L80 Berserker’s mace, small chance for T6 blood, slightly better chance for T5 blood. Greens would have a better shot at the higher tier drop, but no guaranteed material yield.

I think the issue with (the expensive) lodestones is availability. I’m guessing they may simply start with detaching mob spawns from events, like sparks from Dwayna so that they’re farmable at all times. I really doubt they’ll introduce them into the low-end salvage tables because I’d guess they’d become as common as dirt.

lodestones I see as unlikely since It is important to keep them rare. They may add other sources for the rarer ones (charged) but adding them to the salvage tables would make them too common imo.

I agree that T5/T6 salvage is the most likely option. Though it would need to be either a chance salvage or they will need to decrease the drop rate blues/greens or we’ll have the same situation we currently have with silk and leather.

As a plus whatever the change is, it will most likely also offer a solution to the silk/leather problem.

I would like the idea for them to add other mats besides leather/cloth/ore/ecto to the salvage table of items. It would give me a reason to use the higher salvage kits. Right now it really is not worth it except for exotic for ectos and I use the black lion salvage kits I have for those.

I don’t think it can be a drastic change.. if you do 6 meta events a day, that’s 6 rares + up to 18 greens…
