So I just purchased the brahams shield skin.

I bought this skin with the assumption that I can re-use this repeatedly,; see this bit ‘’ use ANYTIME to change the appearance of a shield ’’, after all I did just spend $7.5€ £6.39… However once you consume it ONCE, you require transmutation stone/crystal to re-apply thereafter? Are you kidding me? I just spent gem cash to get this cool shield BUT CAN ONLY ONCE If you require to re-use it you have to pay more? that’s not how the description lays it out? is it just me? I kinda feel a bit conned here. I’m level 38, I had planned or re-applying the skin as and when I needed to upgrade my shield not spend 125 gems for 5 stones,. I feel very disheartened right now.
Is it just me? Was I having a dull moment of misinterpretation ?

I read it as being a one-time use. But I agree that it might be possible to interpret it as unlimited.

Do you personally feel that if you spend the amount asked for the skin, it should be a re-useable skin? Almost £7 is a chunk for something you could only apply once.

I do not have a problem with paying that amount for a single-use skin (I did buy 2 of the Pick-axes) but I can understand that some do. But then again it is still possible to trade gold for gems.

Are there any other skins in game that you can reskin over and over from the gem store? And for that price? If the answer is no, why would you assume they would change that now? “Use anytime” was relating the fact that you will have it for as long as you want it to use, even after it is gone from gem store. Because people keep asking if their items will disappear after the limited time items leave the store..

What you paid for the skin and what you feel it is worth is subjective and irrelevant.

This is how skins work in this game. After you use the skin it is no longer just a skin, it is an item. You need transmutation stones/crystals to switch skins between items. I believe you get transmutation stones from doing story quests, I have over 100 and I’ve never bought one. The crystals are more rare, I have about 10 but I’m not sure where they all came from. I know I’ve gotten some from my daily.

I agree however, the description could be worded better.

And there we go, not too keen on the approach of that reply mind you. It wasn’t an assumption just a issue with clarity. Now that’s been cleared up, I don’t feel as bad as now I believe it was more of a misunderstanding on part, which could have been helped with a clear description, no big deal, Ill have some stones kicking around as I level.

For the record, low level gear doesn’t require the fine transmutation stones (yellows), you can use the garbage green transmutation crystals that you get for doing basically every zone. You’ll only need 1 Fine Transmutation Stone for your end-game gear (L80), so it wouldn’t really be costly at all.

You also have a chance at fine ones from BL chests.

Basically, this is why i don’t buy skins, they are a complete waste. It’s bad enough with the picks. There is no reason players should put up with these expensive items for a one time use. And let’s not forget the labeling of some of these items (this one being a perfect example). When i first read the description i thought, “oh look they are actually reading the forums, they made this a multiple use skin.” Glad i didn’t get suckered into that one, i was waiting for someone to complain before making a move.

Funny, even the stuff you spend gems on really don’t seem all that rewarding either.

“Funny enough” people keep buying it no matter what… So I believe ANet is playing just right? There’s clearly a demand, so, sadly, regardless of what you think it’s worth, to tons of people it indeed is. =)

i like the skins. i bought two maces and one shield. might get another shield.

though i will agree, the tooltip was a bit misleading. it should just state it’s a one time use. knowing how skins work, i read it as, “you can use this anytime after you purchase it and don’t need to use it right away” kind of thing. but still single-use only.

ANet, perhaps look into this to ensure no more hiccups like this in the past.

You should know by now that there are ZERO multiple use skins. That’s why there are those transmutation stones >.> But I do understand the mistake of the tooltip. But I do believe there is the “disposable” tag somewhere in the item as well?
