I didn’t buy it before since it was town clothes, which I couldn’t care less about, but now that it can go as armour skin I would pay 400-500 gems for it, like the other masks on gemstore.

While on the subject I would love if I could wear my glasses with my hats, or the monocle with my top hat. Not sure how to make this happen, but please make it happen.

This time of year is when spring items were brought in the store last year so that’s reasonable to say. So maybe we will see them out within the next few weeks hopefully.
Along with other cute spring items I am really hoping for new minis to gift to my gf.

Anet would be foolish to not return them, they have plenty of people waiting on hand and foot to give them money for town clothes skins (including me) since they’re actually useable now. So I too eagerly await this day.

Hmm.. so ontop of making the discontinued town clothes sellable in the trading post for like 2g-10g each piece when they costed hundreds of gems in 2013, turned them into tonics that cannot be dyed or mixed up, now they should go back on their word about the “The Style category of the Gem Store is being streamlined, and the following pieces will no longer be available starting December 17^th^” bit?

They shouldn’t have taken those items out of the gemstore in the first place, but kitten .. what a way to lie. I have mixed feelings about items such as the bunny ears and aviator’s glasses coming back, they might as well do it but it would be a huge slap to those who bought items when they were ripped out of the gemstore on early December for no good reason given other than the gemstore being “streamlined” with other items such as the Khaki Cargo Shorts going for less than 2g at the moment when it was 150 gems in 2013.

I’m sorry, that’s just kittened up. Bringing them back would just add on to the deceit.

I don’t agree that we can call this “deceit” because of the way ArenaNet worded the patch notes related to the streamlining of the gem store. The words they used leave open the possibility of removed items being available again in the future. “No longer available” just means “not available.” It doesn’t mean “will never be offered again” or “will never be purchasable on the trading post.” If they meant that the items were going to be gone forever, they could have added the word “permanently” to that post.

The tonics are arguably a new item anyway, since they differ from town clothes.

By the same token, the way some town clothes work as armor skins in the wardrobe (specifically head/helm items like Bunny Ears or Aviator Glasses) make them different from before and I know for a fact that – if we KNEW we could wear items like these in combat before – many people WOULD have bought them back when they were being offered.

People with the town clothes that became tonics have already been offered a refund anyway, so I don’t think they are being hurt by Arena Net here. I find this particular argument weird.

Additionally, again since the people selling them they got their refund and clearly do not want the item anymore any way so getting extra gold on the TP is a great deal for them considering the item would have been deleted otherwise. Plus if the seller were to price the tonic to be the equivalent of 200 gems or 400 etc they would cost between 20~40 gold. the item is no longer worth that due to the limited functions it has now. Since it cannot be mixed with other town clothes nor can it be dyed and it has to be carried in your inventory.

ArenaNet also reserves the right, as per the original agreement we all agreed to after installing the game, to change anything at anytime.

I just can’t see the problem if some people want to wear stuff like sunglasses or ears either. This isn’t an “authentic” feeling medieval or renaissance themed MMO, it’s very much a fantasy MMO with all kinds of extravagant outfits, including many animal-themed items (quaggan hats, quaggan back-backs, beanies, unicorn particle effects coming out of bows, etc.) and even steam-punk/mechanical items like magi-tek armor. If someone wants a more realistic or serious costume that’s fine, but people that want to have “fun” skins should get some love as well.

Games that sell skins usually do well when they offer a wide variety of options. Look at League of Legends for example. Like GW2, LOL offers skins for characters that range from serious to comical. It doesn’t take anything away from the game and it can make some people’s gaming experience more fun.

I completely agree with the last poster if we would have known these items were going to be turned into armor skins I would have bought them then.

Like many of the people on this forum topic I didn’t collect town clothes I do however collect armor skins. I own many of them and it be wrong that for those of us who want the armor skin of that item that it never return.

Also the people who got items turned into armor skins were not issued a refund by Anet (unless they had an extra) because the item has been re-purposed. So it is only logical for the reset of us they are brought back very soon because how are the new found fans of this item suppose to predict the future of these items being converted into skins.

Honestly Lydia this is becoming annoying. Please stop phantom bumping by deleting your post and then posting so it doesn’t look like you’re bumping the thread. You made your peace now just stop. You aren’t adding anything to the conversation.

We already have a “what you want to see in the Gem Shop” thread that includes returning items. Post there.

Honestly I find it odd that we have a poster trying to tell another poster to stop posting. Maybe apply for a job as a community manager or something, otherwise it’s not really your place to moderate the forums.

Also complaining about bumping will, in fact, bump the thread. Doh!

Anyway, how about we discuss the actual topic at hand? I’m one of many, many people who would have bought ears if I knew they would be useable as a skin in the future. I’d really like a second chance. If people want to post about it, they will.

It stands to reason that A-Net would sell more ears now than before, since town clothes were generally unpopular compared to skins that could be used in combat.

So here’s hoping that the “Spring” patch on Tuesday has a pleasant surprise.

sorry but it diminishes the value of of items (even untradable ones) to give them out to everybody, there will be other items you will want someday that u can get instead. its unfair to take that uniqueness away from players who did get them and cherish their rarity

I don’t have a problem with the thread. I don’t have a problem if it’s bumped to the top because many people are adding their support. The problem I have is the same person bumping the thread without appearing to bump the thread. I read all new posts on this board and I find it annoying that a thread with nothing new in it other than the same last post that’s always less than an hour or two old in a thread that was otherwise inactive.

Bumping for the sake of bumping is against forum rules. But if it’s not obvious because the bumper simply deletes their last post and replace it with an identical one is still breaking the rules.

When I click on a post that the forum is saying has a new reply and in reality it isn’t, that annoys me.

Mod is locking threads like this right now.
