I take the UI comes up but it denies your debt/credit card.

Yea, NCSOFT seems to have some of the most ridiculous security in place for cash store proxy purchases of any publisher.

You aren’t traveling are you? Playing on a laptop away from your normal IP address or perhaps just relocated from college back home? Does the IP you are using map to the zipcode on your card? I’ve heard stories from other NCSOFT games where to reduce DC/CC fraud they refuse transactions if there is the slightest hint that you may not be who you say your are.

They’ve also had in the past put limits on transactions amounts per month/30 day cycle. Have you bought a lot of Gems with cash recently? Or enough to put you over a $100/100 Euro limit?

Also this could be a bank/CC company thing. If the CC company just had a number of transactions voided due to fraud they may have black listed NCSOFT. Assuming this card worked in the past.

Lastly, is this the first time you have tried to buy gems directly?

Whatever the reason there are similar threads almost constantly over on the Tech Support board. You may have to put in a support ticket if there is some reason they are blocking you.

Sorry. Hopefully you live near a BestBuy or maybe a GameStop and see if they have any of those $25/2000 Gem cards in stock. I think I’ve seen them at Walmart and Target as well.

Behellagh, fantastic reply thank you! Really informative and detailed advice! I think you are right and shall just wait a while before trying again! Annoying as I just want some transmutation stones!

Well … yesterday I tried 3 times. Once with paypal (window didn’t open) and 2 times with my visa, which was refused. No idea why. Makes no sense since it always worked in GW1.

If I can’t play Guild Wars 2 at work, I won’t work in Guild Wars 2 either.

I hbad to put my visa in twice for it to work. My solution: Don’t buy thems, Anet clearly doesn’t want your money.

But but … I want to give it to them

Without GW2 to keep me busy, I’d probably have spent 60 euros a month on videogames. A few gems every other month goes a long way in supporting this game.

I’ve always wondered if MMOs negatively affected the PC game market by acting as a gaming time/money sponge.

The only time I buy new PC games is when I’m not drawn into a MMO.

Depends on the way you look at it. Almost all people have a favourite game or favourite genre. Games like Fifa and COD serve a s a time/money sponge just as well. Big companies like EA and Bioware act as time/money sponges based on the vast quantity of games they pump out, which leaves other companies with crumbs.

So merely sticking it to MMOs is a bit unfair. Every company plays their strength. For some, that’s making a game that has a hundred times the content of any other game, so they can rightfully earn hundreds of euros per player over several years.

I needed to add that I use to play a variety of games. Before GW2 it was the new XCOM, Civ 4 boxset, Warcraft 3 boxset, Torchlight, Endless Space, Plants Vs Zombies (and a few other PopCap games). Other than Steam patching them, I haven’t touched them since I loaded GW2 on my system.

Same thing happened in 2004 with me when I first installed City of Heroes. I would buy 6-10 PC games a year before and after I simply paid a monthly subscription fee. That’s why so many of the previously listed games are “old”, I didn’t have a chance to play them when they first came out because I was playing CoH exclusively. For years.

Okay, maybe I’m a little OCD when it comes to MMOs.

So instead of throwing a lot of money to Valve through their steam percentages, you’re instead directly paying a bit less to an MMO. I don’t see how that’s bad.

When this happened on my husband and my sister’s account, they got an unusual “fix” from support. Try this.

Go back in and select a different dollar amount (like $20, if you originally picked $10), put in all your payment information again. Before clicking “confirm,” click BACK again, change the dollar amount to what you really wanted, then follow the steps through to confirm.

I know it sounds crazy, but this worked for both my husband and my sister.

Janet only allows $300 a month per saved credit card. If you don’t save the card it should be OK. However my bank does not allow purchases from a few online retailers at all. Anet or steam. So I have to buy Pre paid. Fill out a support ticket, they’ll usually get back to you in a few hours. For specifics it may take an upward of a couple days. That’s how I found out its my bank and the 300 thing.
