Guild Wars 2

I have a set of gear I have transmuted. I want to transfer this look to my new set, but don’t want to lose my current gear because it cost a lot to buy in the first place.

Is the only way to do this transfer to use a Splitter followed by a Crystal? Don’t really want to eat the cost twice like that if I can avoid it.

just a splitter should give you 2 items – one with your look and the other with your stats. just store the stat ones and use the look ones.

or, what is likely cheaper: buy a 2nd set of the look you want for your other gear set. splitters cost an arm and an ear each!

If you are wanting to keep the current look and the current stat set then the only way outside of crafting an new set is to get the transmutation splitters- as said before it would probably be cheaper to just make a new stat set though.

If you just want the look on a new set then just use transmutation crystals and you will lose the old stat set but keep the look.

Pretty sure that any armor in the game barring ascended armor will be much cheaper to just replace than spending (last I checked) 125g on 6 trans splitters then another like 15-20g on crystals

They are not priced based on the gold to gem conversion rate. They are priced as a convenience item to those people who actually buy gems with money.

they are not even prices as a convenience item. it is literally cheaper to convert those same gems to gold then buy whatever stat item you need. same with upgrade extractor. what they are good for is to have in case you screw up transmuting a legendary, or something similar.

maybe i am playing MR obvious here but that’s what i have bin saying all the time, simply have a way to “clone” your armor instead of replacing it.
they can aways make both the “cloned” armor and the original armor account based ones it’s “cloned”…..
