Cleaned out all collectibles = decent gold

I’m one of those “maybe i’ll need this later”
I have a ton of stuff but scared to sell until they make all the crafting professions 500.. then I will maybe sell. They have a way of using stuff that I thought I would never need.
In GW1 I think of my crafting materials as my savings account. I salvage all the white items I get, put the materials in the bank and forget about them. But then if I want to make a big purchase I get them all out, sell them all (apart from ecto obviously and occasional ones I might want) and I usually have about 17k, at least once it was as high as 50k.
In GW2 I still need them because I’m slowly levelling all the crafting professions (and trying to avoid buying too many mats) but when I’m done with that I plan to start doing the same thing here too.

Last time I calculated my collectible tab value i was well beyond 2000 gold, about 2 months ago.

Most of those items in your collections hold value better than gold. Unless you intend to spend it immediately i’d advise against this.
As a dedicated hoarder, I have a lot of stuff in my Collectibles tab, plus some extra stacks of things like Mystic Coins and Ectos. If I sold them all, I’m sure I’d be a heck of a lot richer, but as Cotheer said, I don’t do it because “I might need it later”. (In the case of my Ectos, I’m definitely keeping one stack to make Ascended backpieces for my 5 characters.)

your exactly like me, I got 4-5 cheap but uniqe exotics I’ve got sitting in my bank just collecting dust because I “might” use them so day even tho I know that will never happen. I really have to go through my bank tabs and clear out a few of them.

This could be true, however, I can tell you, for example, Onyx Lodestones used to be worth 1g50s 8mos ago and are only worth 75s currently, so it isn’t always the case that they hold better value.
If you legitimately don’t need the materials anymore (i.e. all crafts are at least 400), then I say go ahead and clean house for the gold injection. What else is that stuff doing but gathering dust?
