It seems that a few hours ago every single cleric’s pearl carver was bought off the TP. I listed one for 5g, which sold so I looked up it up on Spidy. Then I see a listing for 245g which is gone now.

Aside from laundering money I don’t really see what the reason for this is. I posted a screenshot of gw2spidy for those graph lovers.

Don’t know why people keep using gw2spidy, it’s sampling is to infrequent and random. GW2TP on the other hand show that sometime between 7:07p and 7:29p EDT that the 10 available at 7:07p were all bought out and not until between 7:29p and 7:52p EDT that 3 became available with the cheapest now at 5g60s instead of 2g11s at 7:07p.

Proves that if the supply is low enough and someone(s) has the gold on hand that buying out an entire item’s supply is possible. But I suspect like the last “experiment” that the price will soon drop as undercutting sets in and supply rises.

I posted two orders for 5.6g. The first one sold and the second one is still up there. (Posted 5 min apart).

I guess gw2spidy and gw2tp were offset enough that one caught that 245g price while the other didn’t.

I see people say this but the people who use gw2tp almost never bother to link it and only seems to be mentioned only when someone already brought up spidy.

Why assume there can only be something shady going on? The first thing I think of is that it was a mistake – sometimes when I change the number of items to buy, instead of overwriting the “1” I accidentally put a number in front of it, which could end up buying 10x what I wanted.

So someone wanted to buy 3 to salvage or something, and bought 31 by accident. Anyway, they’re back now, I just checked and there are ten items from 2.5g gold to 5.6g, no listings for 245g.

The 245g listing also could simply have been de-listed by the seller and just looking at the spidy graph would not have shown this.
