Collection Expander
dont understand the problem
you buy all useless crap like pickaxe for 1000 gem or minipacks but whine bout 800 gems for more room?
seriously – im happy arenanet implement this and i would buy instant more up to 5000-10000 would they allow me
But how many accounts quit before generating any meaningful amount of data? Most of my GW1 friends quit before reaching 500 achievement points. And 30 TB is not that much anymore. Even if they would use premium class SSDs instead of HDDs, the costs would be neglibel in comparison to other expenses of the company.
Without insight into their infrastructure you can’t make such statements. 30 TB SSD on multiple fail-safe NetApps are pretty expensive. Never forget that our data are probably stored on multiple locations (2+ at least). You can’t compare your home HDD/SSD prices with those in professional environments.
Nah, you can turn of ads for your own channel and videos.
For free?
And those that also turn off ads for everyone visting your channel?
What about all the other ads that are visible as soon as you enter Youtube? Those also pay for stuff.

I checked with a second browser where no ad blocker is installed. No ads on my channels or videos.
And no ads anywhere else either?
Like banners or stuff like that?
What about featured and related channels?

And that’s why they’ve advertised “Buy Once, Play Forever” correct?
And that’s why they currently advertise “Free DLC Every Two Weeks!” correct?
Yes, because that is all what it takes for the regular user.
But if suddenly every single player in the game stopped buying gems, the game would die within a couple of months.
No, what would happen is ANet would come up with something meaningful that Players would buy.
i will not pay this for a price that screams “this is a scam”, if it was 500 them maybe but 800 is a tad to much.

But that is a completely different thing.
You claimed that buying the box has paid for every single update since release, which is very much false.
What have paid for the updates are people like me who keep buying gems.
If suddenly everyone stopped buying gems (ArenaNet adding something meaningful in the store is beside the point, there are already meaningful stuff there, anything more meaningful would cross the line towards P2W) the game would die quite fast, due to lack of funding.

I suggest reading up on what a scam is.
You are getting exactly what is advertised in the description, thus it is not a scam.

I don’t claim “buying the box has paid for every single update since release”… ANet has claimed such. It’s part of their current and previous advertising (“buy once, play forever”, “free DLC every two weeks”).
Again I’m not arguing the reality of the situation, but don’t try and tell me my purchase doesn’t entitle me to everything the game has to offer for the rest of it’s life — because that’s exactly what I was sold.

Because they ARE releasing free DLCs.
You don’t need to pay a single thing other than the initial payment in order to access the DLCs, thus they are, by the very definition of the word, free.
They are however paid for, by people that buy gems, which is the only reason you can keep playing for free.
And no, you are not entitled to anything at all except what you got at the time of payment for the product.
They could decide to terminate the 2-week release plan at anytime and you have no rights to demand that they don’t.

Two netapp shelves full of 600 GB 15k drives runs about 75K I think. That around 26 TB. Control unit is about another 30k. So that 26 TB is over 100k. 200k with redundancy. Before service agreements. etc.

Per the EULA I have no rights at all — period. You are jumbling up a number of different discussions which on their own are all valid. My point is the game is clearly marketed as I’ve described (even more-so if you include the now defunct manifesto which clearly falls into the realm of game marketing).
This really needs to be fixed. It should apply to both the collections tab and the bank. What a rip off.

Fix what? It’s not broken. If it was meant to apply to the entire bank, it wouldn’t be called a collection expansion. That’s like saying your health insurance should pay to get your car fixed.

i just put the excess mats in a 15-slot bag and then put that bag in my bank…… next time i wanna use those silly dusts or whatever stackings, i just take the bag into my inventory bag slot and use them…
but of course, convenience are convenience…. this is good game…. support ANET…

What is this putting a full bag into your bank wizardry you speak of?
I seriously doubt ANet themselves owns any (or pays for support) on any customer used hardware at all. It’s leased/rented equipment in some server racks and all accessed remotely by Anet.
Still, whatever storage they use costs them money on a size / time basis and allowing the collection tabs to stack upwards of 300% more items HAS to take up some additional storage (no matter what data type is being used). I doubt it is costing them exorbitant amounts of extra money and I also doubt the storage is free (so it’s all profit).
Upgrade is useful and worth the price, IMO.
Fate is just the weight of circumstances

This thread answered the question I had regarding whether this applied to all stacks or just the stacks in the Collectible tab in the bank.
And I agree this IS NOT clear on the website description AT ALL. “Collection stacks” may be the terminology thrown around the ArenaNet offices to refer to stacks in the back but it could easily be interpreted as simply stacks of items. Heck, why don’t they use the term they established in the game and call it a Collectible tab expander?
It’s really not that hard to be clear with this kind of thing. One little sentence stating “This only applies to stacks in the bank Collectibles tab.”
Instead once again ArenaNet expects people to have telepathy and just know what they mean. I’ve learned since GW1 to always search around forums and the wikis for the critical and important details that are left out because I know ArenaNet will not be clear in their communication in these kinds of things (I had the EXACT same issue in GW1 with cash shop items like merc heroes).

It’s like the “unique” attribute. Most people will understand that a collection expansion will affect the collections tab, but some people will be confused. More explanation may reduce the number of confused players, but it will never eliminate it completely.
Caution: contents of this cup may be hot. No, we mean really hot, like so hot it will burn you if you spill some on you. And not just a little burn, like go to the emergency room hot. So be careful. See? While you were reading this you spilled some on you. What did we just warn you about? Now you can’t sue us.

It’s straightforward if you knew that was the Collections Tab, most would simply look at it as the materials/minis tab. Doesn’t matter if that’s it’s official title or even if it says it in large bold letters along the top. People don’t necessarily think the same was as developers who have been living with the naming conventions the entire history of the game and not make the connection.

No. Bags that are not empty (containing one or more items in their inventory slots) are “locked” in place. You cannot move them to the bank or another bag until you remove every item from the bag you want to move.
You can only put empty bags into the bank.
