Consortium Chests Failure
I had 5 gold when the chests were announced. I used that 5 gold to buy gems, which I used to buy two chests. I got a total of 21 passion flowers, some karka shells, and two heavy aquifiers which sold for 21s each.
I knew it was a “game of roulette” by the fact that the loot drops were a random, and low, chance. I took the risk with gold that I was willing to spend, even though it put me to zero gold.
Don’t put in anything you’re not willing to lose. If you’re not willing to lose real money, don’t spend it. If I didn’t have a wife, and a son, and school, I’d probably have dropped $20 on the Halloween chests and another $20 on consortium chests, because it still would have been cheaper than a night at the casino, and I would have had something to show for it.
The golden rule of the casino is the same as it is with gems for lotto chests: don’t spend more than you’re willing to lose. Don’t expect a big win, expect to lose your money, it becomes much more fun then. If that means you only buy one chest, then only buy one.
Agree, but i pointed out that the drop rate of the Chests is rubbish.. getting a minipet is like finding a needle in a haystack
If there is something which drops from a gem store chest that can be bought off the TP – buy it off the TP. The terrible drop rate is one of the reasons exotic minis are valuable AND one of the reason people buy chests (hoping to get lucky).
This is unfortunately the direction Anet is going to take with their cashshop. Gambling is an extremely profitable business for the operator after all. I gave up on getting the minipets when they revealed this. I could buy them from the tp with my savings but considering the future ones i might as well cut my losses. My only regret is that i bought the halloween ones. Its all good at the end i guess since i have less things to buy from the BLTC from now now.
