So with teasers about the new patch coming out everyone has picked topics like Ascended gear and the new dungeon, or the timing of the events to get into in depth discussions about.

Honestly when I read the pages, it wasn’t any of that that caught my eye. This passage in particular did.

“That all comes later, though. Initially, players will be unable to penetrate the Karka’s armor and it’s this roadblock that will kick off a series of events taking players throughout the world as they learn about the Karka’s origins and research a means to get through theseemingly impenetrable armor. In the process, players will learn of the ‘Consortium’, a new faction of Lion’s Arch merchants that represent a sort of alternative to the Black Lion Trading Company that players are already familiar with.”

So…thoughts? What the heck is the Consortium going to do?

I mean, how do you come up with an alternative to an auction house? What do you guys think?

Implying a new marketplace function? I doubt it. This just sounds like lore to me.

That caught my eye as well. I speculate that it is going to be an alternative to the TP.

Could it be an auction house?

I think is going to be the equivalent of the “East India trading company” a less… scrupulous… branch that gets everyone in trouble.

It would be nice to see an alternative – auction house with closed (hidden) bids maybe?

I don’t really see any gain for adding another type of auction house to the game. If it’s a viable alternative for trading between players, then it dilutes one of the strengths of the global TP by shrinking the overall size of the market.

Less scrupulous is an understatement. We get more stupid random boxes. Apparently no one learned from the failure of the Halloween when it came to that.
