Copper and Iron Demand
Demand is probably the same, I suspect supply is diminishing because less people are in lower level zones.
In short it would be expected.

flipping and manipulation?

Unlikely. Despite copper going up in price, it is still traded very heavily. Attempting to manipulate copper will result in a large loss of money. You can make long term trades on the trend however but a direct flip trade is too risky.

I’ve been selling at 12-13c for weeks now.
Don’t forget the glut of copper that came in from the molten forge dungeon. Look at the long term price for copper at GW2Spidy. The price is simply returning to “normal” as the glut of supply goes away.

Copper used to sell for around 20c in the early months of GW2. It then plummeted to below 10, and has now recovered somewhat. Prices for Copper are likely to remain fairly strong considering you need Copper for T1 Jewelry as well.
Iron was lagging at 10c or less for a while, but it’s made a remarkable recovery in the last few months. Why? I’ve yet to determine.
One reason. Big wave of bot bans
