Cost of crafting ascended weapons?
We are going to have to see where the TP prices end up. A lot of basic material prices went crazy as players either bought and horded or due to the invasions stopped harvesting so supply dried up or a bit of both.
RIP City of Heroes
it will come down, everyone is rushing to level their crafting. Demand is temporary up right now.
It looks like ori ore is only used very sparingly
doesn’t look so bad… since it uses alot of tier 5 materials
and for teir 7 materials thought those are account bound only.
so getting those may take a while
one thing i wasn’t sure is —-→10 globes of dark matter… like how many exotics u really need for it.
The real cost is getting the crafting to 500. The actual ascended recipes don’t really require much, but I dropped a ton of gold getting to 500.
soloQing my way through leagues…
Getting from 400-500 is where it will cost you (About 50g for me today even with the 200 orich and ancient wood that i had gathered). Otherwise it costs roughly 25-30g to make a weapon at current prices.
If you have a ton of cash you can buy all the mats needed right now. Costing you roughly 150g for a weapon. So unless you make 120g per 9 days it is best just to do the daily way.
hard enough to make them cry, not just rivers but oceans."
600g+ to complete all 3 Crafting Professions to 400.
The advantage of getting to 500 before everyone else is that you can start dumping excess tier 6 mats on the market at inflated prices while demand is very high; essentially returning your original investment.
If I gave you a rough estimate; I’d say it costed me around 400g to level weaponsmithing and huntsman from 400 to 500. That’s when orichalcum ore costed 5 silver and ancient wood costed 4 silver. I used laurels to get fangs, claws, bloods, scale, bones, totems and venoms. The prices of these tier 6 materials have doubled since then. Tier 2, 3, 4, 5 mats have also risen but there is less demand for those and prices have resisted shock for the most part.

dumping is when u sell less than ur cost, but the idea is good for the first ppl to get 500 in crafting, instead crafting myself to 500 right now i sold all my materiales now when the majority are crazy to level up fast, after that prices will drop
from RARE to EXOTIC u get like 13.5% extra damage and stats but from EXOTIC to ASCENDED u get like 5% extra damage and stats, so its no necesarry to rush for that.
Personally, I saw prices spike and dumped my mats now. I don’t think this will last very long and ascended gear isn’t that important.
We’ll probably see prices come back down in a couple of weeks.

Amen
Sorry, I said dumped. I should have said sold for a tidy profit.

That theory depends on how many people really want ascended weapons. Tier 6 mats are not only needed to level to 500 they are also needed to craft exotics which are then salvaged to get Dark Matter. Dark Matter isn’t easy to get with a low grade salvage kit. Black Lion Kits return much more Dark Matter than Mystic Kits. Gems costs are not exactly cheap either.
Yes. I’m specifically referring to Ancient Wood Logs. I could be wrong, but they aren’t that hard to get on my own either, so worse case scenario I’ve just slowed my own progress somewhat.
The logs are necessary to create the item, but, more importantly, are necessary to craft from 400-450. I’m completely speculating, but I think once the initial rush to Crafting 500 is over the price will settle down.
Edit: I should note that I have been wrong about the length of the RL dot com bubble and the RL housing bubble. So I may be off in duration by a number of years.

If you knew exactly when markets boom and bust you’d be a billionaire.
The initial question still remains unanswered.
Seriously guys you have a very misguided idea of how much crafting costs to level up.
You should all be using http://gw2crafts.net/ , as it uses live TP data to calculate (and guide you step by step) the cheapest or fastest way to level your craft.
The information right now using the cheapest craft as an example:
Artificing to 400 —> 6g15s
Artificing 400 to 500 --> 219g
But what is not available, is the estimated cost to actually craft the ascended weapon.

Yes, seems it costs around 600g to get all 3 crafts from 400 to 500.
As for the actual weapon crafting costs, this is going to depend on what you want to craft. Seems bows will probably be the most expensive due to these requiring the largest varity of mats: ingots, planks, and leather.
If I recall correctly, read somewherea greatsword will cost around 120g, to craft, and that uses only ingots.
What I see as being the big cost ascended items will be the armour.. Amour has always been more expensive to craft than weapons. Plus the mats come only from salvaging and loot bags, there are no cotton or wool nodes in-game …

There is another thread around here that calculates the cost for ascended weapons. I don’t have a link but it ended up something like
Mats: 58g
17 Champ Bags
20 Temples
15 Dungeon Runs
overall it really wasn’t a whole lot.

Where are you getting 600g? o.O It costs about 50g to get from 400-500.
For everyone asking about prices for an ascended it costs about 25g in mats + however many exotics you need to salvage for dark matter.
Also, this will on go down with time as everything evens out.
Edit: You can also make as many ascended weps as you want right away. As long as you have the cash of course about 150g at current prices to buy all the mats. (This does not include getting to 500 in a discipline)

from a site which you obviously don’t use, despite my charitable attempts to inform the masses by advertising it here. (I have no affiliation with the site).
through discoveries, the price is there for you to see. if you think it costs 50gold then either you cought the market at a very good time, invested in materials prior to patch, or have some way to reduce 150g.
As I keep saying… the site has facts fed from TP prices live every hour, no speculation or assumtions are required to estimate crafting costs. click the link, see for yourself.
http://gw2crafts.net/artificing_400.html
Also bare in mind, prices listed are a minimum, as it assumes there are an infinite amount of items at the price listed.
If you already have 400 skill in crafting, without any materials already hoarded, to buy the materials in the most cost efficient way, this is how much it costs.
(I have never found this site/guides to be wrong, though I havn’t tried 400-500 yet so I guess there could be a bug in the calculations, but I’m sure they would have noticed it by now.)

The sites crafting setup is assuming you want to spend all your money to jump to 500. If you go to the thread they posted on reddit you can see many people stated that their method is way more expensive to get to 500 because they have you craft so many exotics in that guide when you don’t need to. Also there is time gate I don’t understand the rush tbh. Just get to 450 and sit on it till you get to 500. You can always boost it up at a later time when mats aren’t crazy expensive.

I don’t think you can just craft as many as you want right away, you need quite a few things to craft the Vision Crystal that are all account bound and only the bloodstone dust seems to be fairly easy to come by, the other things dropping from world bosses and wvw champs. 500 of each is necessary to craft one so that will be a time gate of sorts.
Just spent 2 1/2 hours, and around 200g getting my crafting from 1-500, just to realize it costs a lot more than 10g to make a single weapon. don’t even want to do it anymore. what a waste.
This process has made a good working knowledge of high end harvest nodes more valuable than ever before .
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”
