Could BLTC skins be free to apply please?
Because it makes anet a lot of money?
Because it makes anet a lot of money?
I doubt transmutation charges make them a lot of money, most people only use their free ones. If they run out of free charges they either stop using transmutations or farm them.
I dont know anyone who ever said “I have to go farm some gold so I can get gems for transmutation charges” or even bought the gems with real money for them.
it’s the truth, if I need transmutation charges that badly I will just 100% a map or two.
You’d be surprised how many people buy trans charges, especially for those with multiple characters. Someone with 10 characters would need 60 charges, not including the times when they decide to change their look. Since GW2 is a lot about cosmetics, I’d wager the one item in the game that can change your looks will be in demand.
You can do map completion for charges, but when you need them in bulk, the gemstore is the best option. I’d wager most people would rather spend the 20 odd gold (pretty easy to get) than the 5 maps they’d have to complete for 5 charges.
Another solution .. Begin to play pvp, and never run out of charges ^^
Fff- I wish that we could have them for free re-skinning aswell (BLTCskins only at the very least)…sadly like all the others say..I feel transmutation charges are gona be here to stay.
Either everyone is forgetting (or wasn’t aware) that Before the wardrobe change, you weren’t able to apply them more than ONCE and couldn’t get them back if something was applied over them.
The current system is much more forgiving.

Seems off topic. Your problem only affected people who only have one of each weapon/armor. Most people have several of each weapon for different purposes with different skins anyway, so they never overwrote a good/rare skin.
I’m just saying that we’re given the ability to apply achievement and HoM skins for free, black lion skins that we actually purchased through the store ourselves would be another good candidate for that.
Not to be confused with skins bought with ticket scraps that can be sold in the AH.

My point is NOW they don’t have to worry about any of that as transmutation charges are cheap (or free for bit of effort). Previously, if you bought a gem skin (no matter how many) you got ONE use of it….PERIOD. The skins being overwritten an lost was a problem but not the main focus or my comment….being able to only use it ONE time was. If you can’t see that the current system is vastly superior, all I can do is try and explain it.
Both Achievement and HoM skins are EARNED (and were zero cost before the Wardrobe change). Gem skins are purchased (and do NOT have to cost RL money) and have NEVER been no cost to apply. Again, if you can’t see the difference, not sure anyone can help you.
It’s one thing to ASK for them to change this, but another to delude yourself and everyone else with some made up logic that somehow this change makes “sense” when it really does not.

The point of this thread IS asking.
Like when we asked for tormented weapons to be added to the hall of monuments, and oppressor weapons.
We thought they took as much effort to make as the destroyer weapons, so we asked, Anet heard, and agreed.
There’s a huge difference between ANet adding elite weapons to the HoM in GW1 and reducing a potential profit source for them in GW2. In the first case, they made it possible for more people to progress their HoM score easily. The equivalent in GW2 would be making it easier to obtain achievement points, which ANet has already done in various ways.
The suggested change to GW2 is to remove a convenience fee that everyone pays for every other skin in the game. Cultural, Pact, Legendary, and other skins all cost a lot to obtain, but we only get one free skin of each — and in the case of Cultural & Pact weapons, we don’t even get to apply it to ascended stats. The GW1 equivalent would be … well, there is no GW1 equivalent because skin & stats were linked together.
I confess I’m not a fan of collecting transmutation charges, but it seems reasonable to me that we pay a small fee per use for skins generally and I don’t see BL skins as being more special than the others.
Well the BL skins already come with one baked in charge which is better than the skins we acquire in game.

Yeah but it already is a source of potential profit, they’re double dipping when we’re paying to reapply the skin every 5-10 levels. (triple, quadruple, etc dipping actually)

No, they aren’t double-dipping. We are only charged once for the unlock. And then, like every other skin in the game (with three types of exceptions), we are charged per re-skin.
I get that some people might not like this system, but that’s different from saying there’s something unusual or immoral about it. To change skins from the current system to a pay-once/infinite-reskins, there would have to be a higher acquisition cost, perhaps lowering the drop rate of scraps/tickets or increasing the per-skin ticket costs. I don’t think either of these alternatives is more popular than the status quo, since some already feel the unlock costs are higher than they can afford.

I’m not talking about the ticket skins, I’m only talking about the armor skins you pay 800 gems for or the weapons you pay outright 600 gems for.
He knows. Those come with one free transmutation. If you liked some skin you can find in game, you still would have to transmute again and again as you choose to update your underlying armor or weapon stats and those skins don’t come with one free transmutation.

Seriously? Exactly who is forcing you to reapply the skins?
The system has been vastly improved and rather than being grateful and pretending it’s “off topic”, you are falsely accusing them of profiteering…..nice.
