Creditcard risk security? I just trigger it
From your description it sounds like you tried to use a debit card and not a credit card for the purchase since you contacted your bank and not the company that issued the card.
I haven’t tried a debit card so I do not know if they are an accepted form of payment for gems.
This sounds sorta similar to my case back in October.
I used my debit VISA to purchase gems before. That was until a phone call with VISA after something fishy showed up on my bank statement. VISA directed me to their own risk management department, they contacted NCSoft’s fraud department and convinced me to cancel my debit VISA the same day :/
It worked out well for me but:
1. Contact the number on the back of your card and let them know what’s up
2. Scan your computer for viruses (my issuer said it could’ve been a virus that collected my card info in the game client).
3. Do not visit sites that sell gold – they are nesting grounds for malware which can track keystrokes in the game client. ANet used to advertise this a lot with GW1… but that game didn’t have a gem store… :/
Disclaimer: Point #3 is just a warning – I never looked at gold-selling sites in my case lol.
