DAE wish they knew the names of traders?
In Aion, every sale had a name to it, for all to see. So you could exactly check who sold what at what price. This would make the TP a bit more clunky, but with the recent bot activity I would be all in favor of it. It never led to spam or privacy concerns in Aion, but that’s just my personal experience. However.
I should add that characters could not be traced to their unique ID name in Aion, so alts could offer all the privacy you needed for trading. That’s not the case in GW2, so an adapted form of TP ID would likely be necessary. Something like a unique TP ID which can only be linked to an account name by Anet staff. If you then see that ID on a whole range of items, constantly updating bids at the speed of light, it would be much easier to identify it as a TP botter. As an added bonus to the traders: they can exchange ID’s to not hinder eachother in their trading. So it leads to both increased TP cooperation/monopolization and transparency at the same time. I’m a big fan of transparency though, so that would ultimately outweigh my concerns on adding (coded) unique identities to items sold on the TP.
Just my initial non-exhaustive thoughts on this; I know I probably missed volumes of other important factors to be considered.
