Digital Deluxe Edition and New Update
hey now… to be fair… DD banker was only 5 days.
It was already insulting enough that those who bought Digital Deluxe during pre-orders believed that it would be a temporary edition and turned out to be in the cash shop all year.
Now adding this is just a further slap in the face. Let’s just add the rest of the contents to the gem store and be done with it.
I wouldn’t have called the limited banker the highlight of your 20 dollars. Mini and Mistfire were a lot more useful personally. Clearly you would disagree with me, but that 5 day banker would not have sold me on that edition.
Honestly, I expected the elite skill and trinket to be more useful. The mini and the banker didn’t really mean anything to me.
All in all, it was $20 that would’ve been better spent on gems for things that actually benefit my account.
The digital deluxe was the biggest waste of money. I’m really annoyed that I was duped into buying two versions. The DD has zero in-game benefits. At least in GW1 you could sell the rare minis for in game value.
What a joke, buy DD edition and u get a crappy banker and they offer a better one. Stupid
Temporary golem bankers, who cares they run out too, so no point in buying.
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.
I simply tell friends to buy the standard version. There are so many minis in the game now, I never touch Rytlock. Actually.. I never used him on my main, and have him on my secondary simply because I don’t spend any gold at all on the account!
That said, deluxe edition guild bankers ALWAYS come with newly created characters, which is not true with the new gem store banker…
I agree, i bought this deluxe edition too, and i have rarely so badly spent 20 bucks on something. Totally useless. It’s a shame.
Don’t you dare talk kitten about the Mistfire wolf.
Now that it’s on a decent recharge, it’s better than every Norn cultural Skill there is and also ironically better in PvE than 2 out of 3 Ranger Elites.
.
But I agree with the rest… in a show of good faith, they should auto-mail one of these “new improved” banker golems to all of us who bought DD….

You knew exactly what you were getting when you bought the DD. If you didn’t think it was worth it, you shouldn’t have spent the extra money for it.
If you did think it was worth it, then it shouldn’t matter if they release a better golem later on. You got exactly what you were promised, and you thought it was worthwhile at the time. I assume you got good use out of the golem you got (unless you haven’t used it, in which case it was a waste anyway because its certainly not doing any use sitting in your inventory unused).

Mistfire is good, everything else is pretty bad (although the ring is actually really good, because it gives 1% crit damage for every 1 stat it gives (technically for every 3 stats it gives, but that’s still a better ratio than any other item)… too bad you can’t really put upgrades onto it.
Did people actually buy the DD just for the extra in-game goodies…?
I am the only one that bought it in order to support ArenaNet a bit more than the standard version?

I did it for both, as I had pre-ordered. I didn’t care if they were bad goods, I loved Arenanet back then (super fan~!). I still love Arenanet, but I wouldn’t go as far to say that I’m a super fan, still. Definitely a fan of them, though.
EDIT: I think the best way to put it is to say that I would do it again, if I had the choice, even if I knew the rewards. Heck, I could have bought the DD with Gold, but I’d still, in my current and past mind, have bought it with real money. The only time I would have possibly bought it with gold would be around Christmas time, when my ideals were shoddy.

Keep this in mind next time ArenaNet releases an expansion/campaign in the future that comes with a digital deluxe edition/collector’s edition.
It’s as simple as that, it’s bad enough people paid the extra $20-30 for one-time use items, 1 minipet, and 1 “human elite skill that works on all races” AKA the Mistfire Wolf summoning elite skill.
Am I the only one feeling cheapened with the Digital Deluxe edition?
Our banker golems lasted 1 week, and we had to spend an extra 20 dollars for it.
Mini Rytlock? Garbage.
Mistfire? Useless elite 2012, candidate for 2013.
Band of Heros? Ran out of juice in 10-30 levels. And Banker Golem, a week of bank access. Why not permanent Arena Net?
So you paid 20 dollars for a banker golem that lasts 5 days? If you don’t like any of the things that were included in the deluxe edition, why did you buy it?
I have the DD and I don’t feel cheated at all. I used the banker golem with all my characters, and every time I create a new character, I get a new golem… plus the ring, and a free elite skill that I don’t have to spend points in and can use as soon as I’m level 30, and an awesome Rytlock mini that is my favorite character from Destiny’s Edge.
And I think you forgot the free glory points, and influence points for your guild…
Actually, the Mistfire is stronger than Hounds of Balthazar (and most other summon Elites). The only downside is that (even with the +100% health buff) it is weak and dies fast.
The only time Hounds will be stronger is with boons since there are two of them. (Fury + Might + Quickness will make them stronger.)
At the beginning you could’ve bought deluxe for gems which costed pennies.
