I thought the goal of ArenaNet’s economic management was to keep the economy such that no one group of people had a much higher amount of gold than another. (i.e. avoiding a real-life economy where 10% of the people have 90% of the wealth)

But isn’t that just what FotM is going to do? I mean, people/groups that make it to higher fractals will get better drops (and thus be able to sell them on the TP for profit).

Rares/Exotics (and presumably Ascended) salvage into 1-3 ecto… Meaning you could earn up to 75s off of one rare (and that’s not even taking upgrade components into account). That’s vastly superior to Masterwork items that vendor for at most 2s.

For that matter, it seems like Magic Find does the same.

You are aware that some people playing the trading post already have an inordinate amount of wealth. The economy is far from balanced as it is. If you want to make a lot of gold effectively, you play the trading post.

And the fractals actually does not drop considerably better if you play higher levels.
It also takes some skill and alot of time, the new dungeon is not an economy breaker.

Good luck making thousands of golds with fractals. There are already plenty of traders with thousands of gold (3 of them in my guild with 2500g++ each). Will take you years of playing fractalcs to keep up with trader income.

FoTM does not in any way upset the balance of the economy.

The market is well beyond a single dungeon (or any combination of dungeons for that matter). Like others have stated – most of the money is being made through the TP via trading. There’s already a big divide between the wealthy and the poor – and this allows people to control certain niches within the market. Which is no different in real life – where the rich continue to get richer and the poor continue to get poorer. Just the way it is really.
