This rise in price of 1000 gems for infinite gathering tools, even if account bound (which should have been in the first place) doesn’t sit well with me. Wasn’t $10 worth of gems more then enough?

There needs to be rethinking on that price hike.

I agree the price is too steep.

I also agree that the person who made it should get a pay raise. Looks really, really nice!

I just can’t justify it to myself at this price anymore, the previous one was already on the steep side.

Looks nice, I’ll feed their machine and buy it. Still don’t like the price, really don’t like the price increase but it is what it is.

I agree with others on the price being a bit steep, but will get one of the tools soon (not sure about this design). I think 600 gems would have been closer to the mark. 1000 isn’t unreasonable, but also doesn’t feel like a bargain. The gem store seems to have this problem across the board. The things on sale lately are awesome, but still feel overpriced. Every purchase is a pained decision rather than a “oh go on then”.

I’d be much happier throwing gems at the store if it operated more like Steam (where basically everyone has a pile of games they’ve never even installed), where everything just feels like too good a deal to miss. Valve have taken so much money from customers for games they don’t even want, and yet the customers are GRATEFUL to them for it.

Again, I don’t think the price is unreasonable, and I would pay it if I liked the skin. I just think the gem store could feel more like it was a valued service, rather than a way to leech money from the player base. I also think it might make more money that way in the long run, but I obviously don’t have the information to back that up.

With Q3 earnings more or less holding steady I don’t see things getting cheaper…

Something beautiful and a price that makes it not worth buying.

I’m ok dropping the occasional $10 on Gems so I can pick up some extra storage or an unlimited gathering tool. I’m not willing to make the jump to $20…. ever. I bought every other unlimited farming tool and fully planned to grab the axe until I saw the price. Remember, its not 200 Gems more, it’s buying 800 more Gems to cover the difference and it’s certainty not worth 1600 Gems which is what I’d effectively be paying.
It just isn’t worth it and frankly I resent the gouging.

Was gonna drop another 10 bucks to grab the axe but after that price hike I think I’ll just stick with orichalcum tools.

I saw this on Dulfy and thought this would be great for my Necro, then I saw the price increase and… NOPE.

I’m still debating whether to get this on my Sylvari. The price isn’t really an object to me, but I already have the Aetherblade axe on her and it would go to waste if I got the Dreamthistle axe as well. :/

You only have one character? Because I’ll switch out the Aetherblade axe to another character and give the Dreamthistle axe to my Sylvari. (thank the gods Anet decided to make the tools accountbound!)

I only wish Anet would give us more increments for buying gems. IIRC, it goes $10, $25, $50, $100. We need a $15 option if things are going to cost 1000 gems. Or let us enter the number of gems and have it calculate the cost.

Or you can always get 800 gems with money and get the extra 200 with gold. After all, if you all buy gems with money (as implied in all you comments), you should have more than enough gold to get 200 gems.

that is true daimasei you could do that. I’ve got 40g to my name. I am willing to pay cash for gems but not my limited gold. I do not make enough gold in this game to afford those luxuries. Wish there was a more concise way of buying them but it is what it is. I’ve got 600 more saved for something else.

Or be smart and just used the tons of karma and buy some karma picks off southcove like a certain cheap kitten does.

Oh no, I have 5 characters. But all 5 of them already have the Aetherblade axe.

I DO have a mule I could stick the spare axe on in case ANet ever does make Tengu playable characters (I would create a Tengu Thief in a heartbeat), I suppose…

In that case, yes, it might be a bit overkill. I’ll need a few more before all my characters have an endless tool :P

And to the person why claims that because people buy gems with money they should have plenty of gold: That doesn’t compute with me. Just because I buy gems with money, how does that give me plenty of gold? There are other things you can buy with gold beside buying gems…
