Well I’d like to say, I think you broke it! :-) Please look at the all graph’s and the explosive inflation rate after this patch. How is this an acceptable inflation rate? There was such a nice consistency until after this specific patch on this specific date. Why has this issue not been addressed?

First, “inflation” is not the correct term to use here. Simply saying an “increase in the price level for dyes” would be far more accurate, albeit a bit awkward to say.

Second, I’m not sure what you’re trying to get at. If the drop rate decreased for UDs, then you would expect for prices to rise, because now it’s harder and more costly for players to get a hold of UDs and thus sellers pass on those costs to buyers via the selling price of dyes on the TP- in other words, increasing the prices that dyes and UDs are sold at.

I just opened 90 dyes i got this week from farming, 10 from laurels.. Made 12g and went back to playing the game. They drop pretty regularly for me.

Specifically, this patch was to be a correction to revert back the drop rates on Dyes to prior Nov. 1st. What’s odd and why I used the word inflation is because it applies. Fore after this patch, pricing increases rapidly after this patch. Not just on Dye’s but numerous other items as well.

These dates, Nov 1st and Nov 5th, are significant. I don’t know what they did under the hood of the economy to create this.

Geotherma.2395… Wow, you must do some serious power farming to get 90 in a week, GJ! I’ve never seen numbers like that myself. Though the big 3 in rare have alluded me after 1k+ hours of game play.

I seem to get streaks of them, they either drop a lot or not much at all. And I’m about 950hours over 2 months, i do farm way too much lol.. oh and 10 were from laurels heh.

They drop regularly for me. However, me having my crap luck I usually end up getting common dyes after identification. I haven’t gotten a 1g+ dye in forever.

Getting 80 in a week (after 10 taken out from laurels) is more than 11 per day. There is no way to “farm” these since they drop randomly. In lower level zones they drop more frequently, but no where near often enough to make 11 a day. Even if you played for 11 hours every day, getting one an hour is extra exceptionally unlikely.

I always feel that cursed shores drop rather regularly as compared to dungeons or fractals, though I don’t usually farm there as it bores me into land of sleepiness.

I get Unid’ed Dyes on a fairly regular basis, maybe one or two a day from regular play. The key is to make sure you harvest all Plant nodes you come across, since there’s a small chance of getting one each time you harvest.

As far as prices go, they’ve actually fallen from the high of 18s to stabilise around 15 – 16s, so I wouldn’t say they’ve been steadily getting more expensive.

I get about 5 unidentified dyes a day farming Orr. I actually misread this thread before as I thought it was regarding unidentified dyes. I was going to come in tonight and disagree, but then I realised we were talking specifically about dye prices. And Im sure they are dropping.

The unidentifieds I have been looking at for a long time and its a massive swing all the time. I believe this is heavily related to the gift of color which uses 250 unidentified dyes. Ive seen it bounce as low as around 12 silver per and up to 24silver at one stage I believe. Over this weekend I seen them at 13silver and got up to over 18silver in just two days. I think unidentified dyes are actually pretty volatile like this and probably a decent investment to flip on the TP.

I do, plenty of people can account for this I play “several” hours a day, and usually end up with 8-10. Its not that I’m farming these items, its that I’m simply farming and this is the result. I just opened another 20 today, no luck though just a few rares that weren’t special. Also my vids of me farming are online for all to see, in them is a decent amount of uni dyes per event.

Just to contribute:
From launch until said patch I used to get about 3 – 5 a day, mostly from harvesting plants.

Now it’s about 1 or 2 a week, mostly from WvW.

I get at least 2-3 a day doing random events in Cursed Shore, running with 33% MF. It would be 5%, but using any other food is a waste.

RNG will be RNG. Bought 10 unid dyes last week, got Abyss on the first one. Bought 10 unid dyes today, got 10 common dyes. Happens.

Harvesting is where I get most of my dyes.

So this is about something that was introduced a long long time ago?

They definitely increased the drop rate on that nov update. Then shortly after they realized and reduced it. Some people argued the reduced it lower than what it was, but I think this is just because we had 5 days of more unID drops.

The price will drop because they are available at vendors now. It wont happen soon, but eventually people will have the ascended items they want, so assuming nothing changes I think the laurel farmers will start to use more and more for dyes (or gear).
