John Smith’s final reply in my previous thread…

“Hello all, I’ve unlocked this thread for a moment to give you the stats on “manipulation” and flipping I pulled last night.

On average, anyone who “flipped” dyes during the 10 hours of volatility lost just over 5 gold. This stat required you to both buy and sell dyes, but left in any personal Udye the user had so it would skew towards making money. Overall players attempting to flip lost several thousand gold and these people comprised only a small portion of the market."

First off, thank you for providing some stats behind the other day!

I should have been clearer in my original post as to why I brought it up and why I was upset. I did mention this later on in the thread, but one of my main concerns were players taking advantage of time sensitive loopholes to make a profit. Your post is great and clearly lays out what happened on the average over a 10 hour period of time, but were there any “lotto winners” so to speak from the buy and dump?

I’m wondering if this would be a different post (or if one would have happened at all) if you were able to BE one of those, “lotto winners”?

The term “sour grapes” comes to mind in all this “concern”.

From reading the other post, it’s unclear if you understood WHO won and WHO lost, so it’s very likely you NOT being able to be involved SAVED your from loosing a bunch of gold.

It’s obvious the winners would be those that were able to quickly turn Laurels into UID dyes and sell them very quickly. I’d venture to say anyone that bought during that time is screwed (and won’t get kissed).

I’d say that the only winners were, as Grimm mentioned, people like me who were online during that first 30 mins after the announcement and who quickly traded in Laurels for Unid’ed Dyes to sell. People who quickly snapped up cheap dyes and flipped them for about 5 – 10 times their value during the initial surge may also have profited. Anybody else likely came too late to the party.

OR people who speculated on this development when the news about account bound dyes in the Chinese release first hit the net, like me
Since I’m a coward (and rather poor), it wasn’t that much though…
