More people buying them to upgrade siege blueprints? That would only make sense if mithril ore has gone up as well.
Unsure but the supply plummeted from 1.1 million to a bit over 100,000. It went from a situation where supply exceeded demand by roughly 50% to demand exceeding supply by 5 times. Elder wood planks also doubled in price over the same period with a similar inversion from demand < supply to demand > supply, but the overall amount is much less.
It’s funny I recently bought some elder wood logs simply because I could use them to turn a quick buck making component pieces such as elder focus casings. Did everybody get the same idea? Is there a lot of players pushing past the rating 275-325 region for artificer this week?

It’s a bubble and it’s probably the same people who are propping up the Heavy Moldy Bag market with >100,000 bids and got out of Ectos before Easter.
No, it’s not a bubble. More of an anti-bubble. The price isn’t being inflated by speculation. It was being deflated by a rash of teleport-hacking node bots. I’ve seen the kitten things quite frequently in the past month. ANet likely got around to banning this batch and the price is recovering as the unnatural supply dwindles. If you look at the other price history of the other logs, they are following a increased pattern.
Odd. Checked the patch notes too, couldn’t see anything that would directly affect this.
I’ll try to think of other possible causes.
These are super easy to farm, I would say if the price rose (and this is entirely speculation) that it could have been bots being removed who caused it to drop and it is now raising to normal. Or a variety of other causes, I’m not an economist or dev ^^

That’s definitely a very good possibility, although I’m surprised that so many bots would have existed right under ANet’s noses to cause the price to rise this much after their removal.

Around Wintersday the same thing happened to t6 mats, I believe. Prices of all t6 mats decreased gradually, and suddenly jumped back up due to a massive bot ban.
Anet tends to ban bot in waves, so I can totally see this as a rason.

Didn’t know this, thanks for the information. Given how recent the last patch was, then, this seems pretty realistic.
