This has to be the worst function in any AH type system. I’m forced to wait forever to post stuff, posting takes way to much time because of this. I’ve waited like 5min before and it still tells me this. I shouldn’t be forced to sit around while it fixes itself. This is beyond frustrating when you are trying to do other things and want to post stuff up quick.

You can make five posts every minute on the TP. It’s designed this way to prevent massive flooding of the markets and to combat botting.

I have to question the effectiveness of this combat.
especially since their last update to this: where it doesn’t go away after that minute is up if you keep trying to sell.
Think about it:
You decide you don’t need any of their chef ingredients and decide to sell all of them. you have like 50 things to sell.
If you’re a human, you would sell, sell, sell, sell, sell, hit limit, swear, exit gw2, watch an episode of big bang theory, come back, sell, sell, sell, sell, sell, hit limit, swear, etc. maybe 240 listings per day.
If you’re a bot, you would be programed to sell, sell, sell, sell, sell, wait 60 seconds, sell, sell, sell, sell, sell, wait 60 seconds, sell, sell, etc. while your owner is watching a movie. so that gives you 7,200 listings per day.

I have no idea why they think this would combat botting. that brings up a point: where have they said this is anti-bot stuff? it just occurred to me I’ve never seen them actually say this, just people saying that was their reason.
bandwidth can’t be an issue either. I expect it uses the same bandwidth to sell 1 item as displaying one player on the screen once. think how many players are displayed every 1/30th of a second in wvw.
If I had to guess why this is there, I would bet something along the lines of someone who didn’t put much thought into it thought it would be a good idea. much like the idea to require the entire chinese alphabet in your password.

really, this is a pro-botting, anti-player device.

Ah, so that’s my problem. I’ve always blame it on TP traffic congestion.

When I go salvage happy I end up with a lot of different items that I then post to the TP. Now I know I should take my time, maybe jog to the vendor and back to sell the bits that I’ll get less for if I posted those on the TP (silk scraps for instance).

I agree this is the biggest POS way I can think of to run a TP its like were only supposed to go kill for 10 minutes then spend 15 trying to sell anything they drop.

God Forbid we go and actually gather or level and try to sell all of those drops thats a whole nightmare just waiting to happen, I’ve actually gotten hand cramps clicking sell
to the point I just log and come back later.

You have to understand that the TP database of items is getting constantly hit with items added, matched, removed, searched for and tabulated. If they didn’t throttle the rate that each of us can interact the database then the whole thing will either grind to a halt or those faster with the mouse will lock out those who aren’t. The transaction cap may be low for some us but I tend to sell in bunches in places of safety and not immediately post combat.

I spend way more time simply traveling between encounters than I ever spend waiting for the TP to accept a transaction request. I don’t begrudge it the few moments every once in a while. Then again I rarely sell now but set a price for each and that may make it less of an issue for me.

due to botting, I agree it should be limited. but instead of 10/minute, how about something like 500/day or 1/second? either of those are much harder to reach.
they could could even add a queue to your client that you sell hundreds of things, and it only sends 10 every minute to the server for actual listings. seems like a stupid way to do it, but it would perfectly match what they currently restrict us to, which is also stupid.
I made a suggestion about this exact thing. any feedback on it will help them see that this is a problem.
