When ever i try to sell multiple items in the Trading post i always end up not being able to sell everything as i get a message saying error unable to sell.

Anyone else getting this when trying to sell multiple items to the trading post?

Yes, its to stop botting i belive, theres alot of failsafes like it in the game that stop you from doing one thing to many times.

way to fix this. buy or sell a differnt item, it will normaly reset for about 5 or 6 more sales.
or you can just walk around and do something else for a bit. normaly resets as well.

Looks like another anti bot feature that gets in the way of me enjoying the game more.

You can get around it by closing Black Lion, Running around a bit, using a skill or two and reopening. Repeating as necessary.

I shouldn’t have to go out of my way to deal legit business. This is just as annoying as that “your message has been supressed due to excessive messaging” BS that makes it impossible to find people for groups.

I literally can not sell anything on the TP atm. Relogging, moving around, even chaning zones doesn’t lift it. Very annoying to have to wait until tomorrow to finish doing my auctions.

I was getting my crafting up today, so i was buying and selling stuff whole the time, untill i got this error aswell. Now i have to wait till tomorrow since i got my bags full with crafted items that i want to sell, kinda annouying. And i cant do anything else to pass time till i can post again since my bags are full, so cant pick anything up.

Maybe if they want to have some kind of protection for bots, why not do something like Aion has with Aethertapping. Once in a while you have to put in a code to unlock it again. Better then waiting imo

This is an extremely annoying “feature”. Why should legitimate users have to suffer because of lazy methods to combat bots?

Just log out to the character select screen then back in. Takes a few seconds but the error goes away, although it may come back quicker the next time, but again relogging works great.

Previously I’ve posted about 10 items for sale and then cannot post anymore for 5-10 minutes.

After a day of trading on saturday I’ve now been unable to sell anything at all for over 30 hours now. I think once you reach a certain amount of trades in a certain time period, you are banned from selling, which is crazy seeing as I’m not a bot.

I got exacly the same. 30 hours later and i still can’t sell anything.

Would really like some kind of official response on this. Every time I go to sell my stuff on the TP after a farming run this error pops up. Having to combat the anti-farm code BS is already a pain, now I have to fight some anti-sell code too?

It’s already hard enough to make gold in this game as it is. Hampering our ability to sell items isn’t going to make us any happier. I’d honestly rather deal with a giant influx of bots then have to deal with all the anti-botting code that’s constantly hampering my experience.

I generally deposit all the mats I collect when I’m out in the world, then sell them all off when I get back in one big transaction instead of 100 tiny ones just to save hassle… but when I’ve got 20 different item types I’m trying to sell, it usually takes me about 15 minutes to half an hour now. I call shennanigans.

Well, the problem is now that for me it’s already locked for a whole week now. Still waiting on a responds on the ticket i’ve made on sunday, wich was already 24 hours after i couldn’t sell anything anymore. I’m hardly playing the game right now, since i got so little bag/ bank space left, wich is sad. A “protection” like this really ruins my will to play.

I can understand that they are busy with it and a lot of other things, but at least make a post on the forum with an update about it, since there are more people with this problem, cause now people just get more frustrated about getting no answer to their ticket.

I think they should really take a look at this, I am not a bot it just so happens I am able to click faster than most I guess. I can see stopping people from botting but COME ON please fix this so we can at least sell an inventory full of items. If this is to many clicks in a certain time period thing did you happen to be timing my Grandma?

So irritating in fact that I stopped what I was doing and wasted my time to post a comment on thread that has pretty much been ignored by the looks of it.

At least respond to us, Blizzard at least took the time to do that once in a while. You guys are WAY better than Blizzard don’t head down the ignoring the player base route please.

Either make weapons and armor stackable or remove this nuisance.

I usually have to wait for 5-10 seconds if I get the error message. If I get 3 or 4 in a row, I bank my materials and wait.

If you’re selling fast enough to trigger the anti-bot protections, you can’t make even the most remote attempt at claiming it’s somehow “dangerous” to stand still for the 5-10 seconds it would take for you to do routine sales.

You’re getting mad over 10 seconds. You get an error if you spam sell too many items.

If you wait 10 seconds, you can start selling again.

You are really spending too much time on this issue when you shouldn’t be.

1.) I don’t count how many times it triggers, but it’s roughly in the area of 7-10 consecutive listings
2.) I don’t think it’s bot control, it’s to prevent massive spamming on the outpost. Without this feature, you could clog up the outpost and make it even slower for everyone
3.) Same, around 7-10.

You spam 7-10 items, then you get a 10 second cooldown. Repeat

2) The “auto-sell” price does not account for the 5% posting fee or the 10% transaction fee. While the total sale amount post-transaction fee is reported in the TP interface, there is no spot that shows the true net price. That must be manually calculated taking the post transaction fee amount less the 5% posting fee. Because of this, while it often appears items are selling for more on the TP than to a merchant, this is often not the case. In particular, after approximately level 30, all blue and white equipable items sell for more to merchants than on the TP. After approximately level 40, green items join this group (with extremely limited exception). At around level 76 certain white items become more valuable to the TP as people use them for salvage.

The only items that (instant) sell for more on the TP are crafting materials, salvage items, rares, and exotics. The vast majority of items in the game do not fall into any of these categories.

3) You’re obviously just manufacturing an issue for the sake of having an issue. Instant selling (which is what you’ve explicitly stated is what you are doing) takes at most 3-4 seconds per item. There are extremely few places in this game where it is not safe to stand still for 3-4 seconds. The only reason you “have to” go to LA to sell is because you’ve decided that you have to go to LA to sell. This is simply a non-issue in game. It’s a personal problem that you’ve completely manufactured for yourself.

No, you don’t understand. It’s not trivial. Some of us buy and sell items to make our gold. At times, I have HUNDREDS of items I need to pick up and resell. Since items in the trading company are not stacked and are in the order purchased, when I pick them up it’s a random mess in my bags. Even though I bought 20 of an item, they’re waiting to be picked up, and want to resell them all, when I pick them up I may only get 1 or 2.

This means I have to buy MASSIVE bags in order to try to get as many of one item in my bags as I can so that I can sell as many as possible with one click because they’re not stacked in my bags either.

What SHOULD be a 5 minute trading session turns into an hour long drudgery of waiting for their ‘anti-bot’ feature to catch up to my clicking. To me, it’s an anti-player feature and far from trivial. It’s SO un-trivial that at times I’m buying things faster than the game allows me to sell them.

If you don’t trade, I can see how this has no effect on you and you’d consider it whining. To those of us who do trade, it’s a royal pain.

The simple fixes… either remove this anti-bot feature or start stacking purchases in the
trading company that are waiting to be picked up. I know it’s possible for them to stack because if a person sells me 2 of one item, those DO get stacked. Why not the rest???

Here’s one advantage to them fixing this. I’d have a lot less time to troll the forums while waiting for their ‘anti-bot’ feature to reset and would instead, get to play the game.

This has been a problem for me for as long as i can remember… so bloody annoying.

Yeah, it is still an issue.

I really think they should put a nice captcha there so you can keep selling, even if the captcha were to spam every couple of sales (or even better, every 10 minutes or so) it would still be less annoying that this feature they are running now.

I’ve run into this a few times and believe it has to do with connection limits on the database at the heart of the TP.

you can get rid of the error by clicking any other item in your inventory, then clicking on the stack that you want to sell and trying again.

I seriously doubt it’s an “anti-bot” feature.

Works sometimes, but I’ve also had it not work. Only thing that seems to be 100% is to wait a few. . .

This is still a HUGE and ANNOYING problem for many people that I know.

Just happened to me again, several times.

This is still really obnoxious for people cleaning out their collectibles, people selling items they’ve crafted, and a bunch of other situations where this problem hits the average player regularly. Please address this!

Okay, I’m glad I found this. I’ve been struggling with the TP for the past hour receiving this same message. I’ve tried relogging, waiting, going slower. Thanks for protecting us from bots, aNet. I’m about ready to pull my hair out.

I’m done with this crap. I keep posting my rants in this thread and nothing is getting done. I’ve just submitted a bug report on this and I’ll keep submitting one EVERY SINGLE DAY till it’s fixed.

Same problem here. I don’t earn nearly as much selling to vendors and the trading post is still broken with that “error attempting to sell” message so I feel like there’s no point in playing when my bags and bank are full. Haven’t played in a couple months and I was really hoping they had fixed that. Guess not. I probably wont last too much longer playing like this. Figured I’d come troll the forums to see what other people had to say.

At the least could you guys change the error message to one that’s more accurate, like: “You’ve exceeded the sales limit, please wait x minutes and try again”. Because an error message makes me think it’s a broke.

I wait 10-15 seconds once I get that message and I’m usually good for a couple of sales then I hit the message again.

Yes it’s annoying. Yes the error could be worded better so it actually tells you to slow down. This is the drawback with a TP that covers all the worlds.

If it’s a hardware issue, they may not want to spend the money upgrading the TP server so it was easier to put a “speed limit” on the rate of posting items for sale or updating queries.

If it’s a software problem, it may be due to them licensing a “online MMO market solution” from some 3rd party and the limit isn’t something they can configure.

That explanation sounds like players just made it up, an urban tale.

This bug was introduced in one Halloween patch, so we have now suffered from it for roughly a year. Time to fix it Anet. Please, it’s highly annoying.
