Why is there a “Error” every time you sell say 8-10 items to the TP and then have to wait for it to “reset” to sell the rest of your items? I am sure not only myself, but others would love for this to be gone.
My search function here at work is not working for the forums so I figured why not ask, can’t hurt.

As to why it’s there, IIRC, a dev posted a while back saying that it is to prevent TP bots from spamming sales, so if you make ~10 sales in less than a minute, it gives your account a cooldown on making further sales. It can be annoying, but at least the cooldown is only about 30 seconds. Honestly, I don’t mind the limitation if it somehow prevents gold sellers from abusing the TP.

It’d be nice if the error message was clearer and actually told you that you had exceeded the 10 sale/minute limit, or if the sell button just had a cooldown timer on it.

The really funny part about this “error” being there to combat bots is that it doesn’t really do anything to hinder bots. It only ends up annoying players.

Once the bot programmer figures out the timing of the “error”, it’s MORE than easy enough to program around.

The bot programmer can do one of two things:

1.) They can sell 10 items quickly, then put a wait timer in before selling item 11

or

2.) They can figure out the time between sales so they can sell continuously.

Either way….it doesn’t combat botting. It annoys players.

Exactly. The limitation is beyond useless to those who are going to exploit the market for real life cash. People who’s intentions are to generate real money off this game are going to modify their bots to circumvent the highly predictable nature of this feature.

It’s annoying. It doesn’t stop botting. I hit it every day several times.

Time to be reworked or removed. How this got into the game in it’s current state is bad enough. The 1+ year troll of it hindering players is old.

I think that this error should only apply if you sell a lot of items ( 100+) and not if you try to sell a few (10+).

I have seen this error a lot of times, because after I finish my daily farm I have around 20 items for tp which I must sell slowly or error appears.

Therefore, I think it annoys players and combat bots isn´t an excuse to a bad design.

It defiantly needs to either go or be bumped up in the amount u can sell in a min. Closing out the day every time & hitting error a lot just is horrible.

Ì always close the TP window, and then open it again. It usually gets rid of the error… for a while. I guess it’s needed vs botters :/

And 10 per minute is no were near the limit, 15 to 20 a minute is doable without triggering the time out.

They should remove the erro. If they create a button that sell all itens at once i will be much better. It is annoying when you have 100+ green itens and stuff to sell, consider that greens worth something now.

Gotta agree with Dench there Behellagh, I hit that error again after about 8-10 items last night.

If someone from Anet could just say they are looking into changing how this error works or anything would satisfy a lot of us.

I’m talking average here. Pacing, selling 15 to 20 items over the entire minute, one every 3 to 4 seconds, not selling 15-20 things quickly and then waiting out the rest of the minute. I do it all the time selling runes after a large salvage run.

Here’s something to think about. The entire TP could be a 3rd party app that they license. They can customize the look, it’s just a web page, and they can set the rules on how trading is done (auction house, consignment shop, trading post, fees) but the underlying infrastructure is out of their control. That’s why font scaling is bad and may be why it doesn’t perform as well as well or they would like. Even error messages could be beyond their control. Just something to think about.

count yourselves lucky! I have been unable to sell any items for over a WEEK with this stupid error message.. arena net mucked something up on my account preventing me from selling on the trading post at all, period.
support ticket was raised a week ago, still unresolved
