Does anyone know why the price of exotic mini pets from the mini pet pacts (example: Jack-a-lop) suddenly dropped in price today? Their price has dropped more than half when this update became live. If anyone has any ideas please post here. Also, if you haven’t gotten your title yet this would be a good time
I honestly dont get this, reef rider can not be forged. Why make then another event one forgeable? Its the same with the selllable stuff, helloween skins are sellable then introduce a new event with skins, not sellable. I dont get this system and its kind of annoying.
exo is exo and rare is rare.
it was always possible to put 4 gold minis in the forge, but they were toooo expensive…4 * exo only works with weapon and armory.

In addition to someone’s answer on another thread about being able to put the dragon bash exotic into the forge to get one of the previous exotics, it could also be that this event seems geared towards purchasing rewards. Unless you have a crazy amount of time, there’s no way to get 100 Jorbreakers, but you can totally buy zhaitaffy at the TP. And of course there’s the moa racing. Maybe people have settled for a lower price to get their money before this short event is over.

Yeah, the people who first discovered this were turning 4x 1gold rolls into 200g jack-a-lops…
With 25% chance to upgrade and 4g per play, this is statistically equivalent to turning 16g to anywhere between 70g to 220g – EVERY TIME. This is without a doubt an exploit.
I hope they realize this sooner rather than later, and then find a way to patch it up.
lol since when is gettin a jackalope garanteed? theres like 6-7 exotic pets and theres numerous rare ones it can also turn out to be. price dropped from 200g almost instantly and is barely holding at 70g for the jackalope meanwhile all the rest are way below that.
Yes, this is no longer profitable. But the person who discovered this bug made thousands of gold. I don’t think it’s ever in Anet’s intention to have someone make 5000g+ in 1 hour.
For your information, recipes in the mystic forge containing the Holo Risen Knight, including crafting the Holo Colosuss, have been disabled to prevent an unintended mystic forge issue. We will message as soon as this is resolved and the Holo Colossus can be made in the forge again.
Huh, so it was an exploit after all. And here I thought this was a nice move on ANet’s part to make Exotic minis more affordable. :/ (Not that I’m a mini collector at any rate. I was just going to inform a friend of mine who is one that now would be a good time to finish her collection.)
The damage is already done by then. I don’t see how they resolve this mess. They will screw many people over no matter what they do or do not do.
The mini value is already <1/2 of what it used to be. Only the non forgeable ones still retain their old value.

I did not know it was an exploit, I forged 30 rares till I understood what was happening and I didn’t win but lose gold.
Stop reacting with foam on your mouth, just because in the inside you are mad that you did not discover this when minis were at 1g. Neither did I. I discovered by accident and thought: “cool ,lets try to get my missing minis. well done ANet, nice way of balancing the prices.”
So please calm down and dont draw your torches and pitchforks, jealous speculators with 10.000g in minis in the tp, just because some dudes accidentally or not used an exploit, that probably was less obvious than the one you guys used to become so powerful minipet-traders.
I am very glad thousands of your gold are now locked in the TP. And I also hope you lose all your listing fees for good.

Yes, that is always legit, because you cannot know whether the seller has gotten it through the normal channels or not. You cannot stop that. If that is what he meant my comment is moot.

There are a couple of misconceptions here.
First, you can get rare (and even exotics) minis from mini pack in the gemstore, I agree it is pretty rare but I already got a couple of rares from them myself. So you don’t have to put greens in the forge to get rare minis.
Moreover, you can buy rare minis from the TP so the price to get 30 rares is REALLY far from 100k gem .
Finally, it’s pretty clear he didn’t get these rares anywhere but in the TP. The whole point about this thread is thanks to the introduction of the new holographic risen knight mini, which is relatively common in dragon chest and which is rare, people have been given the opportunity to acquire rares mini at a rock-bottom price.

yes, I’m sure some players made 1000’s of gold within hours… I didn’t realize this was unintended until it was disabled, I thought it was odd but figured they wanted to energize the mini market or something for collectors.

Your premises are wrong. (i) Event minis cannot be forged, including rare ones. (ii) I reported part of the issue (green forgeable minis) shortly after the patch was up. I was aware of it, saw what the prices were doing, but my next step was different than yours. I reported it, through 2 different Anet channels, and stated to Anet I would NOT abuse the exploit, but that I would nonetheless place buy offers on existing minis. You just saw it, and abused it.
Somehow I don’t think the ridiculously frequent drop rate of the Holo Risen Knight was intentional, either, since the promo material I’ve seen claims it’s a “rare chance.”
Well I thought it may have be an attempt by Anet to give those not able to buy gems by boatload early on to have a chance at mini collector, but should have known better. No chance in heck they be that nice.

Since when does the forge have an upgrade chance of 25%?
Here is my take on it: The new mini was not intended to be used to create other mini’s but only for the one recipe. It’s rare quality – lot’s on the market for relatively cheap – bam, too many exotic mini’s and another grey hair for John.

Bans have been issued in the past for less serious offences, so I would be surprised if none are handed out now. I fail to see how this is an exploit. It is something that has been available since the launch of the game. A new more common mini was introduced. It is equally likely that they wanted to increase the supply of minis on the market and this was their way of doing it.

If they wanted to increase the supply of rare/exotic minis this way, they wouldn’t of taken the ability to forge them away.
On the flip side, to me it doesn’t seem as bad as several other exploits – it (mostly) followed the pattern set since the beginning of the game unlike either the previous karma weapons or snowflake jewelry exploits.
it sucks as hell. why was it an exploit? it was nothing new they just forget to block the forge function in case when it isnt use for forging the kolossuss, i reported it too, but why should anything happen? it´s just the stupidity of the people to sell the minis so cheap thakittens affortable to put them into the forge.. but however.

You have a point on the “buying minis cheap” part. I thought about this before placing buy offers, and stated explicitly to Anet that I would, to be in the clear if anything would be decided on this later. You see, what could I, or Anet have done regarding cheap minis? Anet, what they always do, let the market correct itself. On the buyer, there is only an onus to report (which I did) but what is on the market will be sold, to me or to someone else. But you’re right, I thought about it quite long before I started placing buy offers. I still don’t know what the right thing to do was. Buying them, or not. Did I buy from exploiters? Probably, yes. Maybe some people frantically sold their legit minis as well, and I bought those too, but overall this is less than likely. What is on the market now, legit or not, you don’t know; it’s just expensive again.

You sound a bit like someone who is afraid of getting banned due heavy abuse, if you did so I hope you get!
But I only blame the heavy abusers, if you tried like 2,3 times and figured its obviously not correct to convert rare event for 4 gold into alot bigger profits, okay you did something wrong but at least not abused the kitten out of it.
But the biggest mistake comes from A-net how ins worlds name is anyone overseeing such a trivial thing? I really started questioning their testing team with the last patches. If there is even one…
For those who genuinely don’t understand why this was significant, I’ll do my best to explain the part i think i understand. There are two separate mini “systems”. They are closed systems. One system consists of “event” minis, and the other has “permanent” minis. Permanent minis are a service to regular gem buyers, I guess. The event mini system is part “buy-with-gem” minis, part “free” minis. The systems were designed not to spill over to eachother. If they would, some people will be, simply put, duped. This is especially so for the permanent mini collector group. This is a very important group of clientele to arenanet. They usually spend money on gems, and then buy minis. Getting green or even rare minis through the normal “permanent” system (300 gems per 3 minis) is the exception to the rule. I’ve done this a bit in the past, so I know that getting rare minis is exceptional. Hence their high price on the TP. You also cannot get these permanent minis as a drop, you can only buy them, and forge them in the hope of getting something better.

1 pet was ~1,5g → 6g/ try and you need around 4 trys for an exo → 24g ( at first 12g+ a try) that was the last price, about 10h ago. the people tried to sell their stuff as cheap as possible, they hoped it gets sold, because if people get to know this the exo price could have dropped under 10g. the first people noticing this got the most profit.
so.. most people didn´t know it was a bug, because if they knew, they wouldn´t have sold their pets so soon, and not for 20g.
