New dye packs are available on Black Lion trading post.

Each dye costs 125 coins. (about ~3.5g)

I went ahead and purchased 6 packs (21g) and got no themed dye.

(5 common and 1 white dye)

What about you guys?

I would guess that he meant that he didn’t get any of the new exclusive dyes.

Nope, just got a Charred Dye and it was sell-able.

Yes they are, they are quite expensive though.

There are over 25 shades of red currently out there. Add to this all the orange and yellow and blue that make up the color of flames. When they say “Flame Themed” people expect it to be the color of flames, not gray, silver or all the other crap that people have been getting.

It is a scam to get you to spend and spend and spend in hopes that one of the times you might get one of the new dyes. Which no one in my guild that has purchased the pack has gotten yet. And I am in a huge guild.

Just another show of how eager Anet is to crap all over their players. You fan boys might not care, but you are the tiny percentage. Love getting scammed all you want, but the rest of the gamers are going to HATE Anet for this. Good job sending people back to WoW.

1 marine (common)
1 white (rare)

I’m largely satisfied with the outcome. I got 5 cracks at some of the rare blues (I have an alt I’d use most of those on) and came away with a rare that I’m happy to apply to one of my 80s.

Just mulling over whether to go again. Will probably specifically double check the special colors on my alt before deciding.

Looks like you can buy from trading post directly..It’s much better to buy from TP than wasting gold/gems on gem store.

They are outragous rare. Wont spend a cent on these unless they are 100% buy. I would pay 800 gems for a set of all new colors and not one more.

Which is why you’ll have none at all, unless you buy them from someone who IS willing to takes risks, and prices to profit thereby.

I’m actually sort of looking forward to these colors being rare enough that I take notice when someone is wearing one after the sale ends.

I bought five(5) dyes and got the 2 of the new colors, so clearly they aren’t as rare as you seem to believe.

Rarity or not, buying it is playing unknown odds. The only saving grace over the nightmare that is the chests and the fused skins is that you can actually sell it on the TP.

I am wealthy enough to just buy them of the trading post, but I would just buy them to fill my collection so its not really worth it. I dont think I will recognize if anyone is using the new colors, there are too many similar looking ones already.

Haven’t this however always been the case with the dyes? Since release the dyes you got from the packs bought in the store have been completely random.

I think it says specifically what you get (as far as rarity), i’ve never bought dye packs, i’ve only opened the ones i get from chests. I wouldn’t buy the packs either, but then again i’m not that big into collecting dyes. Besides if i want a specific color i’ll buy it off the TP.

I got Glacial Sky from the Frost Pack

I got some blue-quality dye from the Flame Pack.

I got 3 greens, 1 blue and 1 yellow normal dyes.
CERO new dyes.
Im done with this nwe content RNG.

I had a 100% drop rate on the dyes I wanted, because I bought them from the auction house.

The new dyes are all selling between 19g and 5g presently, so don’t waste your money on dye packs. Get them while they’re cheap.

I got 1 Pyre(out of 5), and a few regular ones. Pyre is 14g on TP, just sayen :P

Ok, so I totally misread what the frost dye kit was and i expected to 6 new ones. LOL.

Yay just spent 5.70g on summer sky dye FML.

The packs say explicitly that they contain one of 25 different dyes, including 6 exclusive dyes. Hence I’d expect no better than a 24% chance of getting an exclusive dye per pack (and quite possibly worse), which would be if they all had even odds of popping out of the pack.

I’d be very interested in knowing what the ‘other’ dyes in the pack are. These packs are going to be much more attractive if abyss, celestial, midnight fire, and friends are popping out of them regularly.

Got Charred on first try. Gonna quit while I’m ahead here (which hardly ever happens).

the fact that people would pay this much for dyes just baffles me. I can get something so similar to any one of those color that you would never be able to tell for all of 3 silver.

Or your appreciation for statistics isn’t as good as you seem to believe – a sample size of 5 isn’t large enough to draw any useful conclusions. We need some drop data from really big bulk purchases to even begin hazarding a guess to drop rate.

Of course, but stating they are “outrageously rare” would be just as incorrect. Another thing to keep in mind is that I didn’t state it as a fact, I said SEEMS, which implies not knowing but thinking.

I dont’ think they are as rare as fused weapon tickets, but I’m not ready to base my wild guesses solely on the 5 that I bought and opened either.

A 5-pack Flame Dye Kit contained two Spitfire Dyes, two Frosting Dyes, and a Natural Dye, all common.

Well that would be telling
I have to admit though I do seem to have some luck with dye and other peripherals in this game. I’ve got Abyss and Celestial a few times, the new ones as mentioned above, I got the Charr back back skin and several of the Molten Alliance skins.

Now if that could just translate to a precursor

These dye “packs”, (not really a pack, since you are buying a single dye for almost the price of a regular dye pack which actually contains a pack of 7 dyes), are yet another unethical rip off attempt by whom ever is running the gem store.

Do not buy them, period, exclamation point! They are a rip off. They are designed to be a rip off. They are designed to get people with poor impulse control or gambling addictions to spend much more money than they should on the game. No one is going to even notice if you have an “exclusive dye color”, there are already so many shades across the color spectrum that no one will notice or care.

IMO, this is the ultimate “suckers test” to see just how much they can get away in a deliberate customer rip off.

Mr./Ms. gem store manager, are you deliberately attempting to turn people against an otherwise phenomenal game and development studio? It seems to me that some one is all to happy to trade flash in the pan rip off based revenue at the cost of the reputation and long term viability of the game and it’s developers.

Please people, wake up. If you keep throwing money at them when they offer this crud, they will just continue to rip us all off. For the good of the game let’s do what we can to put an end to this stuff by just refusing to buy any of it.

I WANT to support the game through fairly priced gem store offerings. I have spent as much as $100 in a month supporting the game. This is now the second month in which I have not purchased any gems in protest over the continued reliance on long odds RNG based exclusive offerings. I want to support the game financially, but I just can not support a cash shop operated in this fashion.

Ha, yeah right, for what i saw, some of these colors ARE actually that good and do stand out. Even more, by having combined them with right equipment part you can get some really awesome and outstanding results. Neverless i do agree with rest you said :P
