Are we ever going to see gem gift cards available at retailers? You might have noticed that Christmas is coming, and some of us still love the game. Gem cards would make nifty stocking stuffers.

Any word?

Actually, that’s a pretty neat idea. At the very least, it’d be neat to be able to gift gems, with a printable voucher providing access (and tangible evidence of Christmas). Or just an email. A bit like the way Amazon’s gift cards work.

Well, it’s not a new idea by any means…every other major MMO has gift cards available in Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Gamstop, and available online.

I did a little searching and found that select retailers do have gem cards, while I have not checked in-store for a physical card if you buy a gift card from those retailers then the person you want to buy gems for can go buy either a download gem card or a physical gem card (if they have them).

For local retailers, it’s entirely up to them if they want to carry them. If they don’t sell enough, they don’t bother. For example, my local Walmart doesn’t carry WoW cards because no one was buying them.

If you want to try, sometimes it’s possible to convince your local retailers to sell the cards.

OK, I see only Best Buy as a brick and mortar retailer of these cards ATM.
