Gem Prices
Assuming 3g is a rate that’s attractive enough to buy gems with cash to convert to gold. It’s all a balance issue between buying and selling gems. If a large reason to buy gems goes away and is not replaced by something equally attractive, sure it will likely decline a bit. But if they offer some unique new item or sale on a widely desirable one, it’s just going to keep going up.

It always seems the gold rate doesn’t drop back to previous levels after such a change in the economy, it always seems to hover over that mark.
I think there will be another change when the final part of the F&F comes into play and then will hang closely to whatever the rate is during that event when it finishes.
The only time I see it return to “normal” is when it spikes for a few hours, for a prolonged event that rate tends to be the new rate…… but who knows! the economy is the game of guesses… probably a question for Michael Pachter for his next Pach Attack episode!
If you look at the long term chart over at GW2Spidy you will see times where the rate did drop over a period of days or weeks. Just since the holidays we’ve seen a constant step rise of the rate with every sale of popular item (bank and backpack slots) or something new and sexy (like the pick or random luck in getting a skin).
set it to all
RIP City of Heroes
Most of the costumes can’t be worn over armor and so they are of limited use/desirability.
RNG lottery prizes get a lot of attention but most people quickly get what they wanted or run out of resources to keep playing the lottery, so they encourage buying gems with cash/credit but have a minor effect on the gold exchange.
The pick is an attractive item which has a practical use in game and is cheap enough that people who only want one or two can convert gold to gems to get them. As the best example of a “good” cash shop item we can expect to see more items like this, the other tools certainly but also portable waypoints and such (Troll up! Come to my WP!)that offer convenience but don’t break the game.
So, no, they’re going to keep giving us reasons to turn gold into gems and the rate will continue to climb. By the end of the year “remember when 100 gems only cost 3 gold?” “No, when was that?”
