Dear Arenanet,

I am extremely disappointed to see that the new pact weapons are a part of the gemstore and were not implemented through the story like the previous pact weapons. I was also disheartened by the fact that skins such as the tormented weapon sets and the chaos weapons were a part of the gemstore in the past as well. I’m a long-time GW enthusiast, I played GW1 for 4 years and have been playing GW2 since launch. I’m TIRED of seeing new skins in the gemstore instead of being earned in-game. I’m sure other players are fed up with this too. It seems to me that you guys are way more focused on money, rather than community feedback, it sucks. :/

Actually overall I think they have added MORE skins in-game than via the gem-store.

People have to understand that they need to get money from somewhere, and I am sure almost everyone would agree that it is better that they do it with skins rather than with power or advantages.

Well, there surely were fewer weapon skins in the gemstore than in game, quite a few more actualy.
Yes, they have to earn money somehow, but the ratio between ingame/gemstore is out of balance in my opinion.
And again only my opinion, but i would be waaay more tempted to pay real money for some of those weapons if they were directly purchasable and not through this horrible rng system.

1) fractal weapons (pure rng, impossible to get for unlucky players even after doing 100s of fotm).
2) ascended weapons (not really appealing, not only my opinion. also cloned with particle effect and called teq weapons)
3) few champ box skins of arguable quality
4) sab weapons (recolored twice…)
5) the ugly, totally forgotten by everyone around ambrite weapons (really, i run open world/ dungeons/ some pvp…dont think ive seen anyone with any of them)
6) RECOLORED ta skins…
7) zenith (and pinnacle that are recolored and slightly changed zenith)
8) few seasonal skins (halloween, wintersday)
did i miss anything?

like twice as many…also dont forget that ALL living story character weapons (belinda gs, marjory axe/dagger and others) were gemstore as well.

last patch I bought gems because I was happy with the content, I could play through the content and get things I want and everyone is on equal footing to acquire them.
today pact weapons are locked behind chests, I don’t buy gems

EDIT: if the last pieces of carapace armor becomes gemstore exclusive I won’t buy gems, but I will buy more if they are acquired in game, see how this works?

I far prefer skins being available on the TP than in the gem shop or as a one-time/character offer from the story or as account-bound drops. If it’s on the TP, I can do whatever content I like, save up gold, and buy it, assuming I want it enough to pay the price. Stuff that drops or is only offered once per character requires me to repeat content that I might not wish to repeat — that’s boring and tedious to me (which many refer to as “grinding”). In theory, gem shop skins can also be acquired via gold, but often, they are more than I’m willing to pay.

That said, I recognize that we all have different preferences about skin acquisition, so I’m glad that ANet caters to the different groups by making weapons available in a variety of different ways. Some skins I want are not available the way I would hope; sometimes the skins that are available via the TP are ugly to me — that is why there are so many skins and so many ways to acquire them.

I’m not saying there are more skins in the gemstore. I’m saying I want skins implemented in a different way. I’m fine with an occasional set of skins on the gemstore, but I find it quite ridiculous how many sets they’re churning out while they add in-game skins at a much slower rate. During season 2 we have gotten 1 full set of weapons (the bug ones) in-game.
During season 2 we have gotten 1 full set of weapons (pact ones) in-store.

At the end of season 2 we will have gotten 6 full armor sets in-game.

6 armor sets?!?! you mean 1 armor set for each weight (with glowing version that cant even be dyed properly)

Ah indeed, forgot about those.
And yes, it is indeed 6 armor sets and they are all fully available in-game, even if you don’t want to count them.

Ha i have the ambrite GS. They are nice if you’re into the whole bug-trapped-in-amber thing like in Jurassic Park, because they are kinda meh, and looks like the wind-themed ones.

Back to topic: aside from LS characters’ weapons, what other skins are available through the gemstore?

Simply put, if each skin was priced in the gem store with a rock solid price then I would buy gems more often either with RL cash or by converting what little gold I have into gems.

Having them hidden behind not only the RNG of the chests but the ticket scrap system as well stops me altogether. I’m not a gambler, not with real world money at least and that’s all the scraps and chests are to me. A gamble, one which rarely pays off.

Sorry to all the ANET staff who do wonderful work; the gamble is a huge turn off for what are otherwise beautiful skins.

what is it with people and their utter disregard for the tradable nature of bltc skins?? the bltc label just ensures scarcity, not exclusivity.

Someone really ought to make a tutorial video on how to earn gold in game and then use said gold to buy things off the trading post without ever touching a credit card. Seems people still havent mastered that part of the game yet.

I bought the chaos dagger and axe skins off the tp, as well as the tormented shield. I can make money. I’m not complaining about cost. I’m just frustrated.

Why not just buy them from the Trading Post, then? I’d never gamble for the ticket scraps myself, but there’s other people who do and then try to sell off their winnings. If they follow the precedent of the Tempest skins, the Pact skins should settle in on the Trading Post at around 70 gold, which should wind up being around 600 gems if you wind up wanting to buy gems to convert to gold for the weapons. So is $7.50 a “rock solid” enough price for you?

uhm…sorry, but farming gold is just boring. we’re doing it for over 2 years already. they could be bought for bandit crests and however boring farming them is, at least it would keep ppl occupied in new map. now there’s barely any instance where players care about doing events. gold farming still means tp/dungeons/tp flipping.

I just wanted to add that locking the new pact skins behind the BL wall makes absolutely no sense from an ingame world perspective.

How is it that we, the glorious Pact commanders, are the only scrubs that can’t get the weapons specifically designed for our faction but instead need to buy them from an independent trading organisation?

You could look at a player, and by looking at him you could tell where he had been, what he had accomplished by the armor he was wearing.
Now its just insert ten dollars and you can be that uber leet guy.

I have no problems with Gem Store skins, but lore based epic weapons from GW1 just selling as RNG box reward (Chaos, Tormented, Zodiac) just left an underwhelming taste. Where for god’s sake are the elite dungeons/missions. We don’t have a single one, for real. Where is the epic Underworld with unique rewards? This game really lacks!

I would have been happy if the carapace armor would have been in the gemstore,
since i need to wait another 4 weeks until i can finally get the light chest.
Also the last part of the story in part 5 was bugged for me and i really have no intend
to try that megalong instance again, especially since it seems to be still bugged for
a lot of players.

And – the set is not complete…. It lacks the Underwater weapons – wich I really want too! Its by far the best looking set ever so far! So plz add those 3 designs…
