I find that most of the armor offerings are generally lacking in representing the racial diversity of the game.  The majority of the options are geared towards human/norn races. I would love to see something that reflected Sylvari, Asura, or Charr inspired , especially since the only armors in game that are geared towards this is cultural & their respective dungeons.   Even random drop armors, as well as starting armors, are all influenced by human fashions.  It would be nice even if it were only for gems, to have other cultural representations in game.

Game skins lack a lot.

  1. Materials are not choseable, not even dye-able… GW1 had w-dyes.
  2. General directions of armor designs are not matching between male and female. GW1 was correct.
  3. We can’t have a charr style on humans, asuran style on sylvari, or else. GW1 had.
  4. Medium armors look light armors / pijamas. GW1 had betters.
  5. Most skins are bulky, way small or big. GW1 had betters.
  6. Most shoulder pieces are not fitting and way oversized. GW1 had betters.
  7. Drop skins are the same. Why they can’t drop special ones, dungeon ones? Guess What 2? GW1 had it…

P.s.: Yes, yes; GW1 was mutch more correct and revolutionary than GW2 is. C’mon!

I agree totally with OP. Myself being a Charr pplayer since launch it gets sad to see all these shiny armors on Human/Norn, somtimes even Sylvari, but we charr get some clunky stretched version of nothing close :S

And towards RoyalPredator: I don´t think GW1 was all the way better with armor skins. And it makes a lot more sense that different materials(cloth, leather, metal) are getting dyed in a bit different way. Even in real life i can use the same colour and the results will be different on these 3 materials.
And there are dungeon related skins, they just don´t drop but can be bought with tokens

Personally, I think having more than non-humanoid in this game caused a huge drop in quality armor as compared to gw2.

With that said the reason racial diversity will never improve or really change (unless china proves otherwise) is because the majority of players play human characters. I doubt Anet will put in the work to create specialize armor for charr, asura and sylvari.

Obviously the biggest flaw in your argument is that Gw1 only had 1 race and 1 body type to design armors for. (I would have preferred they stuck to 1 race instead of 5 and giving mediocre choices for the other 4 races).

As u know im pro. ~Tomonobu Itagaki

This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.

Not saying to create more cultural armor just armor that draws its style & theme from the other cultures.

There are a few that aren’t based on any race (Aetherblade, Magitech, toxic gloves/shoulders)

You disagree?
GW1 was Human Only, that is right. BUT! There was EOTM armor skinpacks, so your character had the opportunity to wield a differen’t race’s style of items.
+ human sub-race variations of local fashion.
For example, my Assassin had Norn armor. Yes, NORN armor.

You guys really think the same armor can not be applied on other races?
You know that most of the armors are ~same on races, except the scaling differences and some speciality like charr’s faces? Yes yes…
I would say check skyrim, but those are still humanoids, so just imagine the racial armors being on different race in a bit modified version. Would that hurt anyone? No.
+ There is a reason why Braham’s outfit used on all races.

And guess what? ALL the styles of these races comming from REAL human styles.
Bit tweaked but those are real. Even sylvari armors.
Only exception is may the Asura gears, but thats also a known D&D line and the rest is a Mass Effect – Maya hybrid, doesn’t looks as amazing az we expected REAL ALCHEMY.

And on side of Charrs, I feel for you. I’ve planned to play Charr, but they became kitten. GW1 charrs were same humanoid-like, why did they gone backwards in evolution at the last ~250 years, meanwhile they made a lot of engineering forwards?
There a dev would say ~“We wanted to make charrs here as we originally imagined for GW1”. But it would be a lie. Amongst a lot of special race, they could make charrs that way too. What else excuse? They wanted the Charrs look else than Humans? Maybe, but then I would consider taking offical concept arts & even loading screens on humanoid-like charrs… Get sense people!

So my conclusion is: You can try disagree, but I’m right.
The devs should offer a lot more variations of same styles that we can mix as we want to. Including “low level” race armors, just as OP suggested so. +1 on him.
Best would be a Modular Crafting System…
