If you want to invest for the long run, the most reliable investments are probably:

  • Gems (if you buy at 12g/100, then you need them to rise to about 16.7g/100 to break even — and most people seem to be thinking that’s going to happen soon).
  • Leyline Weapons (with the exception of the Lovestruck and Jade Dragon skins, BL ticket skins have typically gone from 15-50g within 2 weeks after introduction to 150-300g — best case has been the Zodiacs, already selling at over 300g).
  • Limited Edition dyes (if you buy cheap, there’s good profit, even though ANet keeps reintroducing them).
  • Consider investing in jewelery mats (silver, gold) and leather — people keep expecting Grandmaster Jewelery and for leather, at worst, you’re out 2s50/stack.

Past performance is not a predictor of future performance. Your mileage might vary. Don’t forget to write.

Nice reply thanks.
I’ve got a couple questions tho.
1) What makes u think gems will rise by that much? that would be a 33% chance increase in price and thats to only break even. To get some good profit out of it they’d have to approach 50% higher price. What would cause such a price jump?
2) Leyline weapons are currently already in the 100’s of gold. Obviously the price will drop near the end of the 4 weeks they are available but I don’t see them dropping below 100 gold. Isn’t ticket skins risky in this case? I suspect these would follow a similar path as lovestruck weapons.
3) Do you mean gold ore and silver ore?

If more and more people buy gems with gold instead of real money, which is, as the past has shown, the case, the price of gold -> gems (and thus gems -> gold) will rise instead of fall.

Sure, it’s a fashion trend. Skins are not secure as a long-term investment, because sooner or later more and more people have it. And because people tend to wish to look unique, newer skins become more popular.

3) Do you mean gold ore and silver ore?

I think he meant both. But I’d recommend to wait until the signs are more clear, else it’s more of an investment gamble (See Greater Fool Theory).

I understand that but going from 12 gold to 16 gold is still a huge difference and for profit it has be more like 18 gold. Thats as I said a 50% increase in the price. How long term are we talking then. Cuz I don’t see this happening in a few months. I started playing during the start of the game, then went on hiatus and came back november 2013. Back then the gold price hovered between 7-9 spiking right when some new cool gem stuff was released. So in a bout half a year the price reached 12 gold a 33% increase. This means to profit on this I’m looking at at least a year or more time before the gem prices reach a level where I can profit. That too long term for me. I wanna cash out in a couple months. The thing is I wanna flip the gold I got from dusk into some cheaper precursors that I want so that I can make the legendaries that I like. All I would need to buy still is t6 mats and precursors as I already have a lot of various gifts lying around. If I have to wait a year to cash out I might as wel grind the extra gold I need myself and get it without flipping. I don’t want to wait that long lol. Thats why I’m looking to double or even tripple the gold I have now in a relatively short amount of time.

This is impossible in a world-wide economy GW2’s TP is, because price differences where you can profit from are getting “corrected” extremely fast, too many eyes who see it.

This is quite possible, depending on how you define relatively short. However, posting any items or techniques here wont really work because as soon as alot of people read it, the focus on those items WILL be there. But i think with a couple of hours invested every day (for trading AND research) its quite possible to get 1-2k profit with an initial investment of 1000g within a couple of weeks.

And Concerning Ley Weapons, right now they experience a common bug for new items on the tp, the price on the search results (if you search for Ley) is outdated.
As soon as you click on each weapon, the price will update. Most of them are at 70g/90g atm.

lol how in the world did OP get infracted? o_o

if investing you mean long-term speculation and not flipping, then gold, silver, & platinum are good holds.

However it’s becoming increasingly likely that we may not see Jewelcrafting until the next feature update, which could be in at least 4 months from now.

As mentioned, skins are a good choice as well.

Best investments usually are cheap items which in some months get an high price. Remember that it is better to buy 1k items for 2 silver each and sell them for 1 gold each, than buy a precursor for 1k gold and sell it for 1,5k.

Now, the best items are the celestial recipes. In the last month the price of some recipes has gone x2 or even x4 and I think it could go easily be in x 15 or more in some months more.

I bought some exalted celestial recipes at 6 silver, they are at 30 in offer and about 50 at sell. If you look at gw2spidy.com you will see that if it happens more or less the same than last year ( and for this month we could think it will happen) the price will rise a lot of more.

The same will happen with draconic and emblazoned celestial recipes, but it will need a little more time. Therefore, if you want a really good investment, buy some of them.

I’d stay away from weapon skins, bit too shallow a market.

Put a buy order at 22c for Quartz Crystals.

You’ll likely get them fulfilled and they’re currently in the money with the potential to go up 200-300% without significant walls (trading at 1s22c, a 513% diff, before the supply dump). If the trade fails you can vendor for a loss of 10%, but at worst you’re likely to walk away with 15% in a month if a new market opens up that you’d rather jump on to.

I misunderstood the original request, as I thought the OP wanted some long-term, low risk investments. As clarified later, Verificus wants to try to double or treble their coin as quickly as possible.

The short story is that it’s impossible for us to provide great advice about that: as soon as we publish, dozens of others are likely to try to follow the same techniques, thus quickly reducing the profitability of whatever “sure-fire” system we try to explain.

Put another way: if it was easy to make that much money quickly, everyone would be doing it.

To make money really quickly, you have limited choices:

  • Find something craftable for which the components are (momentarily) much too cheap.
  • Find something forgeable, for which the components are severely underpriced.
  • Find a container (e.g. Heavy Moldy Bag), which is severely under-valued, i.e. the components sell for 20% or more than the cost of the bags.
  • Flip.

The problem with each of these is that the market quickly corrects the highest value opportunities, leaving relatively few ways to invest gold for quick, high profits. That said, there are always market niches for each of the above; you just have to be quick about investing in them and quicker about getting out when the competition figures them out.

For example, boring but reliable flips can be easily found in the dye markets. At any given moment, there are usually about a dozen fine dyes that can be custom ordered for less than half the price at which at which they can be custom sold. The list of the 12-ish dyes changes from day to day (sometimes hour to hour).

The trick is to buy as many as you can at the lowest price, sell for as much as the market will handle quickly, and switch to the next set as the competition catches up.

Fine dyes aren’t ideal for working with 100s of gold, because you can only make ~50 copper/unit. So you want to look for similar niches in other markets.
