So I’m trying to understand this. Is everyone selling their globs low because the patch didn’t involve anything requiring globs? Or do people just need cash to buy gems for the new skins? What’s the deal here?

Yeah this is also striking me as odd. Best explanation I have is that some people hoarded ectos in case the new world boss chest situation made ectos harder to get.
Maybe a couple speculators saw this wasn’t the case and then proceeded to dump them while the price was still above 30 slightly and it went downhill from there with other speculators piling on.
I don’t think there is just one explanation for this phenomenon. Therefore I also agree with your assessment about massive exchange of gold for gems to get keys for a chance at the fused skins.

Also, I did find it odd that I placed a buy order of 35 ectos at 26s 75c while the top buy orders where around 27s 25c and it got filled instantly. In 1 or 2 seconds. There were hundreds of units ordered before my order. The turnaround time must be enormously quick right now.

I think the ecto market may be just correcting after the surge in price last week now that the changes to dragon chests are in place and aren’t having as much effect on ecto production as people initially feared.

A bunch of people freaked out over the ‘one chest per account per day not per character’ change and blew up a speculative bubble. Now that the change is live and we’ve found that it was a pretty clear minority cycling alts to loot boss chests several times a day, the price is crashing back down to what it was before the bubble.

The price was wayyyyy too high after that speculation. The truth is not many people have multiple level 80’s, so the supply didn’t drop nearly as much as people expected.

Someone or something is controlling its price, the speed at which Ectos went down is not normal and let me explain why:

I’ve been observing the prices for a couple of weeks now, and some weird stuff happened. First, they were being sold for, let’s say 30s, someone who wanted a quick sell would put a lower price, the obvious one would be 29s 99c. This happens very often, ppl selling for 1 copper less than others, but what happened FREQUENTLY, was ppl selling from 40c to 1s lower, but not a huge Ecto dump, just the ammount enough to make it stay as the lowest for like 5 minutes (i noticed ppl doing this for an ammount of 40 ectos to 50 ectos), why? People who wanted quick sells and didn’t watch Ecto prices would sell for a couple of copper less, so the price would be sustained in the earlier advertised. And this kept going on for a week now, price was stable, someone sold ectos for 1s less, the total price would go down by about 50c and so on.

So today, the price went to its lowest, or the price the manipulator wanted, so they made an enourmous dump, to make the price stable.

The big question is, why are they doing this? I imagine that if they stop controlling it and make HUGE buy orders and stack Ectos, the price will go up again, back to the 30s something. So a dump would make them millionares.

Yea I’ve been seeing it too the last few days. Some wealthy people are contantly trying to push the price down artificially. Prepare for a big push up soon.

yeah… John Smith has conclusively shown that the ecto market is not currently, nor could it ever be controlled…. nice try though.

I know, 150k globs per day. My answer was yours, a week ago. Try looking yourself though. People don’t normally constantly try to sell their stuff 2 silver below the price. It ain’t normal. And with watching I mean constantly refreshing to see what’s going. During peak times, the rest barely counts.

Not sure if I had a little hand in this. I stopped playing the game and had a quite a few ectos and sold them all at a more than lower price. Then bought out the others and sold them lower.

It gave some people trying to get ectos a chance but someone’s buying them out to resell for 27s + so watch out again. They probs had a few thousand gold I only had a few hundred. Now given most of it away, don’t think I’ll be back on for actual play and only helping Union out with funding.

So I kinda annoyed the ecto traders.

I suspect the usual manipulators have found a more lucrative market and that this is just a reallocation of capital for Easter. When ectos drop to their abitrarily chosen number (probably ending in a 0 or 5), they will pile back in to artificially prop up the market again. Just like the real world market nonsense.
