So, I’ve been playing this game since beta. I’ve bought keys to chests, and many of those chests rewarded me glory boosters. Those boosters didn’t come with an expiration date.

Now, I’m being told I can not use those boosters after 18 March. They cannot be used anymore. That’s not cool for several reasons. I’ll name two:

(1) It’s not cool to me (and many others like me) buying those chests and getting an item I cannot use after random date X, Y or Z. Timewise, it is literally impossible for me to use all those boosters before 18 March; and

(2) It’s not cool to the many, many regular s/tPvP players who did all their dailies/monthlies, and got rewarded with something that will have no value very soon. The s/tPvP community is livid about this, and rightfully so.

Nonetless, this discussion is meant to only focus on number (1), above, which is why I’m posting it in the BLTC section. I bought those chests with cash. And yes, I believe that’s relevant.

Simply disabling all glory boosters after 18 March – without offering any suitable replacement – is not a reasonable solution to this issue.

I opened my 11 K AP chest this week and received Glory Boosters …. not cool. They should have been disabled the moment they announced Glory removal … and replaced the Glory booster from BL chest and AP chest by something else.

Wow I can’t believe that glory boosters are still being awarded when they are about to be obsolete. That makes a lot of sense!

Yep, I got one yesterday in a BL Chest. Not that the alternative booster it could have been is that big of a deal, but yeah, they should not be dropping when they’ve effectively been rendered a defunct pseudo-currency.

That seems to be their MO, though likely unintentionally. They did the same with Captain’s Council Commendation and Lyns (still able to get commendations even though Lyns’ shop was closed – and Lyns was still shouting at you to get them!)

When we got glory boosters, we got them instead of random other boosters. We should get that random other booster instead of these soon-to-be-worthless glory boosters.

There’s a mystery “?” booster icon. Maybe they’ll convert them, though being in the PvP locker might cause a problem.

It’s funny how their reason for not converting them is that it wouldn’t be fair to the people that knew they were being removed, so they used them for their intended purpose. Gotta keep the 1000 people that saw that forum post happy or else they will vocalize it – the other million or so that don’t read the forum are just sol.

I’m still getting these as well. Got one just the other night. Should’ve had these removed instead of karma ones.

Completely agree that not offering compensation of any kind is not a reasonable solution to this issue. Hopefully if people keep expressing their displeasure with this inexplicable decision, a reasonable solution will be offered.

I personally feel they should at the very least given us the option to use them in the mystic forge for other random boosters. This whole situation feels like a waste.

So I have over 200 glory boosters, how in the world am I supposed to use them all up before glory goes away? I mean if I started using them when they first announced glory being removed I couldn’t use them all up. 2000 hours of game play from December – March, that is a lot of playing. Let us say December through March is a total of 120 days. 2000 hours divided by 120 days is 16 hours of gaming a day. Sorry but I cannot do that.

Yea I am trying to burn through the 125+ boosters that I got from BL chests like mad but it’s just not working. In addition I get new glory boosters every day so I’m back at 123 boosters.

Yeah i’m on 81 here and i’ve been trying to eat them like smarties during tpvp or even standing around the hub lol.

I can’t see any “compensation” being given but i like the idea posted with regards to the mystic forge. This is something i would like to see implemented across the board with boosters. I mean strength and rejuve? i’dd hapily throw these in the forge for a chance at some karma or mf etc.

If Anet does just remove glory boosters without any sort of compensation it will add to the pattern they have already started of not caring about people’s achievements and progress in the game. When they reset people’s personal fractal levels down to 30 without any sort of compensation they removed personal character progress that took months to achieve, and now it appears they might be doing it with glory boosters. I personally find this unacceptable.

I popped a glory booster from my unending stash to do my pvp daily today, ended up with 2 more from the tournament reward chests. It is very disappointing to see a worthless reward pop up. I do not understand the need to remove glory before the new reward system is even finished.

I know. But this should have had some sort of compensation as well. It’s like paying for something with money, and getting coupons in return. But the person writing out the coupons failed to mention they have an expiry date.

If you weren’t using them before, how will you miss them now? If they were just taking up a bank slot, then all you’re really doing is getting that slot back. And if you were using them, how many did you really need to keep you going until they vanish?

Okay, now that I have that out of the way… Yes. This is complete and utter, Grade-A bull by product. They should have stopped appearing when they announced that glory was going away. OR they should get a moderate vendor sell price, and be dealt with that way.

I was saving them because I thought they’ll be more useful in the future as a MF recipe or as a instant glory like with WvW XP or karma items.
If I would know that they will disappear then I would use them earlier, now it’s too late.

Just opened the 10k chest and got some PvP Glory boosters.

I thought I had heard they were being removed entirely from the game very soon. If they have made this decision, why in the world are there still ways to acquire these things?

They should have been removed from any sources like BLTC chests and achievement chests. The period of time before they are totally removed from the game should have been allocated for people to use up existing boosters they already had. Not to give out more. This is just crazy.

I agree. 11k achievement points and over 150 keys bought with money. Go figure how many glory boosters that produced.

The “if you bought the boosters directly you’ll get refunded” policy is not good enough. Because I – and thousands of others like me – did buy them. Through opening chests.

But you know what, I actually think this is even worse for the PvP’ers that completed their daily every day. For them, this is just so… wrong. Plain, dirty wrong. Especially if they also refused to participate in the former gloryfest called Skyhammer.

Humans have approximately 100,000,000,000 brain cells. By your argument, we should remove 99,000,000,000 of your brain cells. If you have THAT many, you were never going to use them anyways (especially not on grammar or spelling, it seems).

Besides, maybe someone will give you a few bucks for them or something.

So if we used gems on Black Lion keys and received Glory Boosters as a result, we’re SOL huh? Typical Anet, but at least this is even more reason to never buy another key again. I never thought the boosters from the chests were that useful/valuable to begin with, but now we know they have even less value!

Saying that we had advance notice to use them up is not good enough; anyone who has them realizes that’s an near impossible feat. They could have offered an X:1 swap for a different kind of booster, or at least provided them with some merchant value.

Not enough time has been allowed for many to use up all their glory boosters so we’re being ripped off. Anet does not seem to understand that taking money from people for keys and then removing part of their reward afterwards is a really stupid business practice. People who feel cheated certainly won’t be inclined to spend money in the gem store in the future. Incredibly stupid because people have not been asking for a lot of compensation – something as simple as 100 glory per booster, 4 glory boosters into the forge for another booster, etc. But instead they would rather annoy people.

If you received Glory Boosters from a BL Chest before it was patched, then you didn’t exactly buy the boosters. Because you won them from an RNG offering, you technically got them for free, and thus aren’t being ripped off.

They announced they were getting rid of glory boosters awhile ago. And I am just gonna play devils advocate on this one…

1. You have a hoarding problem – As you receive glory boosters you should use it immediately, not point in hoarding them up to 100s or 1000s like people have for some reason.. When I get a new GLory booster I use it right away as I am saving up Leveling tombs desperately so I can make level 80s at will.
2. People still using it, So again I REALLY enjoy getting and using them as I am getting glory and spending before it is gone. .
3. You rather them comp you some kitten EXP Booster or a crafting Booster? Cause that is all they would EVER reward you at most anyways.

if glory booster from a BL chest is considered ‘winning’ it, then the paper your lottery ticket is printed on is also ‘won’ upon purchase. glory boosters came out of every third BL chest. They are practically a set reward and not subject to rng.
They are too easy to save up, because they are given out like candy – candy that you got instead of chocolate pve boosters. Even if you use them 100% of the time you pvp, you’re going to accumulate them. I use them whenever I pvp. I just only pvp for an hour or so every other week (it’s a guild tradition to inhibit the guild leader’s pvp daily progress).
It’s bogus that they are catering to the 14 people that saw their post and went out of their way to use their glory boosters, but leave the thousands of us that didn’t want to play pvp just because some boosters were expiring swearing under our breaths.
