I want to buy a greatsaw for my pvp war…
But I think the market of the greatsaw is ruled by powertraders who got all of them at the moment?
As a pvper I don’t make alot gold.. So I went in PvE and made 1k gold..
But everytime i put a buy order it gets overbid by 1 coper????
Is this a bot or something?

Any way to get one for a reasonable price?

I think that is just a people play, but it can also be a bot. Unfortunately I dont think anyone will sell any buy order because they would rather undercut sell orders to get as much gold as they can.

It’s an old skin and many people just have it used, only few people have it for sell, most of them won’t get desperate enough to fill buy order.

In other words, buy it from the offers is most likely only way you can get it.

The greatsaw skin only dropped during October 2012, there haven’t been any new ones created in over a year. And there probably will never be any new ones, so pretty much the only skins available are already on the TP as sell orders. You aren’t going to be able to get one with a buy order.

Well I don’t mind paying the fullprice, but i’m sure it wouldnt be from random people.. They disappeared from TP for a few days, then came back on 1.5k gold, I don’t think everyone put them on at the same time..

Sure, whatever… there is currently seven available for sale, in a range of prices. Probably not the same person selling them, but most of the supply sold back in October, so I’d go for something else instead. The few remaining skins aren’t going to go down in price.

I bought the shield & staff back then, and my wife bought the greatsword, sword, and staff. I think they were all around 20g-ish.

Back then, however, there was no way to know that it was both the beginning (impressive, free, and fairly easy to obtain), and the end (BL tickets). Most skins I’ve seen since then have been rather… disappointing.

I have a few shields and GS’s and don’t plan on selling them for a while but if I did it sure wouldn’t be a buy order. I imagine that the few others like me who have a small amount of skins will be doing the same.

The shields were all bought up followed shortly by the GS’s so who ever it was controls the prices and everyone Is at their mercy.

I like many thought the Halloween weapons would start dropping again in some way so before the patch I sold my long kept weapons: shield for around 400g, greatsaw for about 315g, scythe for I forget but alot..

Then on I think one of the days after the Halloween patch where it started to look pretty certain that they weren’t going to make a return I had a bit of a panic and watched the TP all day, eventually saw about 18 greatsaws available, then refreshed and saw about 10 available, I quickly bought one for about 350g and then refreshed a moment later and they were all completely gone, gave me an adrenaline rush to have got it lol. I swear I saw about 20 greatsaws some with really high buyout prices disappear in minutes.

Well sometimes the market for these items is not for consumers, but for traders as investments.

It’s almost like rare art in the real world. Often times they are not sold to people who want to proudly display it in their $20 million dollar mansion. They just want to hold on to it as an investment.

So for all those who currently have the halloween items in stock, at what price are you going to sell these? Surely there has to be a limit. And I’m sure this coming Halloween, prices may drop as there would still be a risk of them re-releasing the skins.

If the expension comes → returning players → tons of gs’ on tp → cheap.
Decided to wait for that.

You guys just have to keep in mind, inflation. I have both Greatsaw and Ghastly shield.. but at the time it cost me ALL of my gold (pretty much ~100 hours worth at that time) to buy only the greatsaw.

I couldnt afford the grinning shield, but because of the way Gw1 holiday items work (they never reappear) I decided to do my first ever pay to win transaction.. it cost be around 80 dollars at the time, which is insane, but I liked Guildwars two that much.

Today, if I were to do the gem conversion thing, it would cost me 300 us dollars to get the amount to buy the sword. Considering that its been an ENTIRE year and the skin is EXTREMELY rare, I haven’t really profitted much at all when you count inflation.

.. and this is an exaggeration. Even when they were still dropping from chests ONE YEAR AGO they were extremely expensive and rare. A year later, after many have been used, you think that its going to all the sudden drop in price? Get real.

Another fact is that the buy orders at 450g NEVER get overbid. The offers above 800, are getting overbid by 1 copper EVERYTIME. Oh, but no powertrader is doing this nono!

Don’t forget when the game came out 30g was a kitten ton. I remember how hard & long it took to make 1g back then.

Nowadays it’s ridiculously easy to make gold. You can do one meta event and in less then 5 min have a good chance to make 1g.

Anet has made many updates that changed loot from meta events, dungeons, & champions that make it so much easier to get gold.

The odds were pretty low & only came from blc & mad king chests.

Sadly, I feel that what is available on the TP is close to total. While I’m sure that some player’s may be holding on to one or even a few of these skins for future inclusion to the TP, I really don’t think there is a mass stock pile somewhere.

Banking that future returning players may lower the prices on this skin (or any 1st year Halloween skins) is not that simple. One must assume that these players, for whatever reason, didn’t apply them right away to their weapons. I’m sure the amount of unused pristine skins sitting in inactive accounts is likely very, very, few.

For the record, I purchased the Greatsaw, scythe, and Grinning Shield during the year one event for a total of 80g (if I remember correctly). I applied all three to my various characters weapons. I still occasionally use them (transmuting as required), but in retrospect, part of me is kicking myself for for not not having the foresight to hold on to them.

In general i think that most of the supply (>90%) of any item is stored in peoples bank and inventories and only a small margin is listed on the TP. That is especially true for high value items.

If I have an item that has very few listings, i prefer to have it in my bank and not list it, while watching the market, so others dont know how much i have of it.

I have a freaking sycle (spelling?) skin sitting the one of her bags. Was mixed in with other junk like the candy corn and things. I remember logging her back with the first mad king thorn events in frustration and rolling my , now main, engineer.

so I got that now in my bank, chilling..

But dont feel bad, because, like I said, counting inflation, it hasn’t grown much at ALL. 80 g then was equivalent to about 800 g now. Yeah, you still lost money, but that return rate is awful for an MMO.

Take for instance, if you had bought 80 g worth of superior sigils of generosity (I bought 25 g worth) and sold them after a year, you would have profited over 3000 gold.

I disagree with that. I think many PvEers would want the greatsaw even at its current price. In my opinion it’s the best looking greatsword in the game and I’d rather have that and be unique than have twilight like half the players in the game. If only I could afford it…

If u are a PvEr, I guess it won’t be hard to make gold.. I made 1k gold in 1month, while i didn’t even play alot and im horrible at it.

It’s a status symbol because of its rarity and price. Sure, Twilight is expensive, but a dozen of them are created every week, and over the last year the number of them in the game has grown. But there hasn’t been any “new” greatsaw skins created in over a year, and there may never be more of them added.

I don’t even look twice when I see players running around with Twilght/Sunrise/Dreamer. I pause for a moment when I see Howler, moot, etc.
I really take notice when I see Greatsaw, scythe, or Grinning shield – Because (even though I have them), I don’t see many player’s characters running around with them.
As time passes these limited items will only become more rare as players quit. The number of legendary items will only continue to grow. Sure, Legendary players will quit as well, but other players will continue to forge theirs (thus growing the ‘pool’ of those items).

The amount of greatswords is raising, so I was right that the current amount isn’t everything. By far not.
