Hi Guys,

I recently got a Half Eaten Greatsword and I was checking the prices on the TP when I realized that it went for ~60 silver which is an oddity. I tried previewing the item but it looks like an ordinary Greatsword. The stats are also nothing to boast about since it’s a low level weapon.

Does anyone know why this particular weapon fetch such a high price?

Look at the stats compared to other similar level weapons.

Thanks for your answer! But, I’m not convinced that the slightly better stats on a level 3 gear would fetch half a gold.

You know how much of a difference a slighly better stat makes at that low level?

At level 80 for example 1 precision would be 1% chance crit
At level 3 that same 1 precision would be 5% crit

Just an example the numbers arent accurate but just for the sake of comparison

Perhaps, but level 3 is a passing phase that passes all too quickly, is that 1 precision worth the money? I just find it all too odd :/

Is that the selling price or buying price? If it’s the selling prices chances are everybody salvages it or vendors it and one crazy person decided to post it for 60s.

If it’s the buying price…. then… sell it?

I have no idea. I’ve sold quite a few for that price. If there’s some secret use for them, good for that guy knowing something no one else does. I still made about 10g off of them.

It probably salvages into a valuable pile of materials if you use the right salvage kit. Just sell it.

I believe I dropped it from Caledon Forest, I only checked my loot when my bag is full so I could be wrong.

If I had to guess, I would say this has to do with level scaling for WvW. A level three character scales that 1 perception up quite a bit to make a much greater impact at level 80.
This is not a definite answer, but my best guess.

Maybe bots are programmed to use them? (Or to use whatever has the best possible stats for that level on the trading post.)

Well, there was a bug that have been recently fixed.
This is copyed from a patch note if anyone come across this threat.

Fixed a bug that caused several Half-Eaten weapons to give an inappropriate amount of bonus attributes for their level.
