Wow…hope that isn’t like a massive ban like the snowflake jewelery.
But guessing if u r using ur xp to trade in for gold I think that is legit.
Of course depending how much u value ur xp/gold ratio.

The only flaw with converting silk to gossamer is that you need skill points to do so. This means if you are planing on creating a legendary you should not do this. You need ~400skill points not including the failed mystic clover attempts.

the skill points are technically where you make your money yes and no i dont aspire to make a legendary weapon at least not at the moment but honestly getting them is super easy from just doing dungeons leveling up and playing the game! Also Powercat you put it extremely simply if you actually watched the video i described the best place to farm the mats and how to shave off every copper you can to increase your profit more and more, yes i realize some vets already knew this but what about those newer players that had no clue? Hope i helped someone!

Silk supply heavily outweighs gossamer supply. The only thing this will do is lower gossamer price

Nice try, getting people to buy that silk. It will drive the gossamer prices down further which suits me fine though.

I think it may affect the gossamer prices slightly but mostly it will probably increase pile of crystalline dust prices

I wonder how long it’s going to take for ANet to make all salvaged items and all items from the Mystic Forge account bound.

After all, it seems like mots of the exploits hinge on salvaging on recipes and pretty much all of the “get rich quick” videos are about salvaging or Mystic Forge.

The upgrading of components through the tiers via the mystic forge is even described in the official wiki.

You’ll never know, we just have to be more careful from now on. I guess the ban hammer taught everyone to fear the game. As long as i’m making gold from it, i have to be careful. You can never be too careful right.

The thinly veiled whine about exploiters being banned is kinda derailing the other use of this thread to drive up silk (and more likely crystalline dust).

Upgrading t5 to t6 has always been int he game. Also many player have known about the silk to gossamer for profit for months. It is not an exploit but it will effect market prices now that everyone know about it.

The snowflake exploit involved a production method that produced more ecto than you fed into it. Thus allowing you to use ecto to create more ecto, which you feed back into the start of the process. Now you have a runaway ecto production line.

As long as a production method produces, at most, the same number of an ingredient you feed it, you will be fine. Something which produces different materials produces 0 of the ingredients, so it’s fine.

I tried this and lost 20 silver, and 3 skill points. It isn’t guaranteed money.

I did the silk→gossamer 3 months ago. It’s not worth it.

its not worth the time and effort…

You gain barely any money if any at all due to the TP fee if you are selling the gossamer and buying all the mats. Also you lose skill points.

arenanet might banned you. everything is a exploit.

If you straight buy the materials from the TP yes it can eat the profit but by waiting and and getting (mainly the Pile of Crystalline dust) quite a bit cheaper by waiting make it so you SHOULD make profit every single time, made over 20g in the past 2 days doing this

yay! Gossamer price fall! Now I can make loads of leather exotics! Yaaaaay!
