Can anyone give a logical reason why ArenaNet decided to put human t3 light cultural armor in the Gem Store that has special effects and cost LESS than the 119g you would have to pay in the game for regular human t3 light cultural armor?

Who in their right mind said this would be a good idea?

Why is my 119g human t3 cultural armor worth 67g on the Gem Store (with added effects)?

“Flamekissed light-armor skins, Flamewalker medium-armor skins, and Flamewrath heavy-armor skins are now available in the Style category of the Gem Store. These fiery armor skins can be purchased for 800 gems each.”

I’ve patched in and see nothing new under Style, Promotions, or on the front page.

u can take a look of the new armors when u going sPvp,but they arent really good because its only a reskin from the WvWvW skins with some flame effects lol..

So— this is really cool but Human T3? Are we going to see other culture armors in the gemstore.. because I would be all for that.. but I can see some being upset. BTW it looks very cool I plan on purchasing.

On a human female, yes, Light is T3, Heavy is the gladiator looking stuff you can get via karma in Gendarran, and medium is … something I’m less familiar with but definitely an existing set. All with fire added. I don’t think you can dye the fire, I will have to check with an alt carrying a dye.

800 Gems for reskins.. really? Come on.. And giving access to a cultural armor to everyone? Whats the point of cultural armors now if you get them cheaper with better ( not my opinion) effects.?

Seriously, this is the worst move I’ve seen yet. Thanks for degrading the worth of my cultural armor by making a better version for half the price.

And how come you only screw over the light armor wearers?

The only bright side is now I could feasibly use cultural armor in pvp.

I don’t understand why they made the human light T3 cultural armor accessible for all races. :/ why not just the T1 instead?

God I didn’t even think about that. Now I’m going to have to watch sylvari and norns charading in my cultural armor while theirs is still off limits.

Since you can’t take this back now, you better go all the way and give us humans heavy t3 norn armor. Or give us a new t3 light armor. Or give our t3 an OPTIONAL rainbow glow that will make it not strictly less impressive than this new travesty (and optional because I don’t always want to be emitting particle effects).

First i wanted to complain that since launch there wasnt one complete armor skin introduced outside of the gemstore while the count there was 9 before this patch and that it would be 12 now, but seeing those its even more hilarious. To simply take old skins and stick on some extra glow is a disgrace and to expect people to pay 800 gems for that is nearly an insult.
I also agree that its unacceptable that one of the skins is human t3 for all races as this devalues the human uniqueness to some degree.

For the most part, I’ve been in Anet’s corner since before day 1.
The introduction of these “new” armour skins is, frankly, pathetic.
To degrade the ‘value’ of the human light cultural skin and the exclusive WvW medium skin is a horrible idea.
It’s lazy and an insult for every user who saved and did the grind to earn the gold or WvW badges to buy those armour sets.
Selling the skins is just terrible, adding flame effects just more so.
More fire and flame items? Really? Bad idea on top of bad idea.

Yeah, I don’t plan on buying any the new stuff. It’s kind of lame to give one race T3 Armor, ontop of the price is kind of stupid. Reskin…joy… maybe anet was in rush since thanksgiving is close and they want to spend time with their families.

Personally I am ok with being able to get other cultural armors I actually wanted it and posted about it a month or so back. I was thinking more along transmuting it though. I guess it stinks for those that paid over 100 gold and do not get the cool effects though.

I am so disappointed. I own every armor from the shop. I am prepared to buy stuff for real money and for gold. I never felt cheated. I never felt cheated or as if it was a cash grab. I bought around 19 char-slots, bank tabs, bag slots, etc. But this really blows.
I hate how the t3 light human armor is not special anymore. That’s a slap in the face of anyone who bought that. I am really angry.
Can anyone explain the thought process behind this “design”? (Other than “We want money, lets take something we already have and make it kind of sparkly”) I want to buy new armor! But this is just not the way to go anet! Just don’t bring any new armors in the shop if you don’t have an idea. You don’t need a new armor every month…

They should’ve just used the tribal armor (masquerade armor in pvp) as the new gem store skins instead of using the T3 human cultural armor.

I just seriously can’t believe they did this.

I mean it’s already bad enough that they are reskins of already existing armor, and they are trying to sell them for 800 gems, the price of new armor skins. But to make it T3 Human Cultural armor is just disgusting and insulting.

All those players who saved up for T3 armor on their Human characters just got screwed over. Now anyone can buy it for 800 gems, on any race they want, and they get particle effects with it as well.

Cultural armor is supposed to be special unique armor for specific races. It was expensive for it’s rarity and each race had their own unique armors. Now you go and take away the armor from humans and make it cross-species, make it cheaper, and give it fire effects. So now everyone can have what was supposed to be a unique rare armor set for humans.

I just don’t even know why I bother anymore.

I spend 120g on T3 armor for my Human Mesmer, and now I wish I hadn’t because the gem store releases a reskin with cooler effects for a portion of the price. This is a huge slap in the face, and I am very much not okay with this.

Whatever motivated ANet to do this needs to go away, and something needs to be done with it. Can I open a support ticket to refund my T3 cultural armor??

As someone who started with the GW1 beta none of this is all that surprising. I don’t mind it either. What I do mind is that so far none of the gemstore sets are all that compelling except the originals and even then it is just the heavy and maybe the medium sets.

I don’t really see the difference to this situation. If this armor had been available, I think some of us wouldn’t have bought the t3 armor, which is a lot more expensive than the shop armor.

While the rest of the patch is awesome so far, this… is not. Reskinning armor already in game then expecting us to pay $10 for each set? Sorry, but there’s no way in Grenth’s domain I will pay for that. It’s just plain low.

Whoever approved this clearly has no regard for the consumer, much less providing any semblance of value.

Technically, you can open a support ticket for anything your heart desires (relating to customer support, obviously), so asking the players if you can do that is sort of strange. Be like Nike. Just do it.

Looks like the uproar against Phalanx had an impact on the Flamewrath set. The boys are showing some skin in it! Discuss.

EDIT: It has been pointed out to me that since this is a reskin, it’s unlikely that the Phalanx uproar played any part in this whatsoever.

They are all reskins. Those armors already existed.

Ehhh, dunno if it counts considering it’s a reskin of one of the few revealing male sets that already exist (and heavy class, which already gets the lion’s share of revealing male armours). EDIT: I will say that the source armour is an excellent example of gender-balanced armour, though, and I wish we got more with those design maxims in place. Flamekissed is a travesty on this front.

Technically they are different than T3 since they are on fire. So I doubt anyone is going to get a gold refund on them.

As much as I’d like the armour for my Norn female elementalist, I have to agree. It’s a disgusting move from ArenaNet, a new low point for them.

it was really poor decision, cultural armor should never be in gemstore. They made the human light T3 completely irrelevant.

Flamekissed armor should be changed to something else or be removed from the gemstore.

The reason is making money. As the armor looks very nice for most, I see thousands of Norn, Sylvari and Asura buying it. They don’t care about the original armor and the cost imbalance.

Take existing armors, put flames on, demand 10 bucks for it…the Gem Store design gets shameless.
