How is this even possible?
Anet, can you please give us something like the Halloween chests where we trade in stuff? I know it’s my fault but I feel extremely let down right now about this.

I wish you didn’t decide to make them account bound so that I could just buy one off of the TP..

I’m not usually one to complain, but 2 beast endless mystery tonics? That was a massive slap in the face by RNG. I would love to have some way of trading one of them in for the forest or furniture one.

As it stands now, I’m just completely shocked at how bad my luck is. Did anyone else suffer as much as me?

Gambling without knowing the odds is probably one of the worst things that you can do in life. Luckily it wasn’t anything important.

On a positive note, think of it as an investment. It may have cost you 200$ but; you’ve learnt something valuable.

You can also look at this from a different perspective. What is the actual value of this product?

In order to understand this you have to account for the human labor it took to create it. How much time would it take an artist to create a 3D model, paint it and animate it? Since this “product” is bits of data in a computer; it can copied. They can duplicate it as much as they want; effortlessly.

What ever you think the value of this “product” is; ask yourself if it would make sense to buy it at that price.

I do not regret buying the gems, I love this game, have been playing since beta, and will throw money to Anet whenever I can because in all my years of playing MMO’s, this one takes the cake. The team behind this game deserve every penny I have given them.

It’s just frustrating that a new, cool looking weapon set is released, but I can’t have it just because I’m unlucky. That’s how it feels right now. It’s not skill gated, it’s not time gated, it’s just the simple fact that the numbers didn’t add up for me. I would’ve spent as much money as I had to on the TP to get the daggers to finally complete my character, but I can’t even do that.

Halfway through I honestly wondered whether I was opening the wrong chests.

But therein lies the problem. When the only way to obtain these skins is through the chests, The vast majority of people who want the skins will buy them, no matter how bad the odds are. The ones who close their pockets are reduced to those crazy people you see on street corners demanding an uprise, while the rest of the game, and good skins, continue to drift on by them.

It’ll leave the door open for company B to take company A’s market share using a better business model. Consumers support companies for a variety of reasons.

I agree that it’s total kitten that the drop rate is as bad as it is, but history suggests that this is the way Anet wants it. I would assume going forward that anything that Anet adds to a RNG table isn’t going to drop anywhere near as often as you’d like it to, if it drops at all.

I both agree and disagree with this.
I got lucky, very lucky, to get mine with just 4 keys. I didn’t pay gems for them but got 2 for completing 2 zones and the 2 more from the chests.
Yeah they want you to want more but you can also get very lucky.
