Incoming Precursor Price Adjustment
More importantly for me personally, I’m hoping this drops the prices of the respective T6 materials as well because it will cheapen the upgrade process.
I’m anticipating a precuror adjustment in the coming weeks – not due to your reasons, but to the supposed increase in precursor drop from guild missions.
I’m not entirely sure if we take the dev’s words to heart, but he said that a precursor would be rewarded to everyone in the guild. Now that is quite absurd, but whatever, we’ll see.

Can I get a link to that, Vol? I saw a dev mention that precursors could drop from the guild missions, not that everyone would absolutely get one. I think it is the common case of “if you get a rare, it has a chance to be an exotic, and if it is an exotic, it has a chance to be a precursor”.
I don’t agree with this, I would think the more people that are able to afford the mats/Ectos that goes into making the legendary the more gold they will have free up to pay for the precursor making the thought of a legendary more realistic for some.
At least that’s how I am feeling, If I don’t have to spend so much on ectos/mats, I’m more apt to spend the money to buy the precursor.
I don’t think comparing precursors to ectos/mats is the right thing to do being that with the last patch farming these things has gotten A LOT easier (hence the price drop) but no adjustment has been made to precursor drop rate so why would the price drop?
PS. Devs never said Precursors would be rewarded to everyone in guild, Devs said the chests from guild missions have a chance to drop precursors… probably the same chance as them dropping off dragon chests, which we all know is slim to none.

I can’t find the exact article, but I remember reading this preview:
http://www.guildwars2hub.com/guides/basics/complete-guide-guild-missions
“Not only do they have a chance of dropping a precursor for everyone in the guild who completes them”
and then I went on reviewing more articles, and I noticed a quote from one of the devs (not the ones that frequent the forums) that matched that.
On further review, I don’t think they meant that EVERYONE would be rewarded them, but just that people who do them have a chance of a precursor.
Still, if this has a high % chance (especially with the 1-week limit), we could have way more precursors flood the market enough to drop the price at least 10%

Iv done 2 guild missions with my guild so far(30+ guildies involved each time), which means 60+ chests we have gotten from completing them.. Each chest gives 2 items that are guaranteed to be rare+.
That means from my experience over 120+ items that are guaranteed to be rare+ we have 1 recorded random exotic.
I don’t think your chances at getting a precursor are any better than when you get your daily temple or dragon chests.

I think Willywho’s suspicions are correct, as I, too, have had that experience with the 2 guild missions I’ve personally done. I understand that with more “chances” at exotics from the world boss chests and the guild missions there are bound to be more precursors generated, but I don’t think it will be enough to gouge supply and drop price by any noticeable margin.
The prices might go down marginally, but they could also go up. More ecto more readily available might result in more people pursuing a legendary, and thus an increase in demand comparable (or exceeding) the increase in supply (greater prices). It’s tough to say right now, but I lean towards prices maintaining themselves and steadily but slowly increasing as they have been.
Might actually be worth it to try my hand at the forge given that mf materials (ie level 75-80 rares) have already fallen, yet the most sought after precursors haven’t yet.
Although I have a feeling the expected value using the mf probably still exceeds tp value just because of random cursor drops bringing down cost on the tp…
